At Nutrient, we equip developers and innovators with cutting-edge tools to simplify workflows and accelerate impactful software creation. We’re on a mission to redefine how documents are created, shared, and experienced. Our software development kits enable companies to work smarter and faster, saving time and expenses along the way, while effectively replacing the need for paper processes.
Whether you’re optimizing APIs, enhancing user experiences, or helping the world learn about our products, joining Nutrient means contributing to solutions that impact over one billion end users worldwide.
Your Role at Nutrient…You will be joining the R&D team responsible for the Nutrient Document Authoring SDK, a WYSIWYG web editor library, aiming to eliminate the need for external word processing software by embedding the experience directly in our customers' applications. It offers a type-safe, in-browser visual editor for fast, page-based editing. The high-fidelity renderer ensures exported documents look exactly the same as when editing, delivering a truly WYSIWYG experience. Take a look at the guides and API docs to get a deeper understanding of the scope involved.
The R&D team is small and highly collaborative. We thrive on curiosity, ingenuity, and a shared excitement for solving difficult problems. Many of our challenges require developing a strong understanding of the domain, and the complexity of word processing means we push the limits of what's possible in the browser.
We mostly use TypeScript, but also WebAssembly where it's the right choice. You’ll work across a range of areas, from the editor’s user interface to the underlying word-processing internals that power it.
Our SDKs must work across diverse customer use cases that we're constantly learning from. They need to be convenient to use and easy to integrate; well architected, tested and documented; loved by humans and LLMs alike.
Depending on your preferences and priorities, your day-to-day work might include:
- Writing and reviewing code and documentation
- Talking directly with customers to understand their use cases
- Designing and implementing solutions that shape the evolving architecture of the product
If you're excited about building complex systems, care about developer experience, and want to help shape the future of this product, we'd love to hear from you. You'll have autonomy, learn a lot, and have an oversized impact on the product.
What You’ll Bring…- Strong General Programming Skills - You're well versed in OOP & FP, data structures & algorithms and understand that even a client-side SDK forms part of a larger distributed system. You know when and how to use React but also when to go straight to the DOM and the event loop. You’re driven by a curiosity to understand how things work.
- Passion for Building in the B2D Space - You don't write code for the sake of it, but to provide value to our customers by getting the user/developer experience right.
- Self-management and collaboration - You don't need hand-holding, and you gain energy from exchanging ideas, both async and sync.
- A bias towards Shipping - You move fast and take ownership for solving problems from start to finish.
- Some exposure to computer graphics - You know how transformations in 2D work and you know how to wield them.
- Experience building JavaScript libraries and distributing them - You have built and documented stable, public APIs with an eye towards future backwards compatibility.
