As a Senior Turbomachinery Design Engineer, you will be a key member of a small and talented team working toward refining our turbomachinery across multiple engine platforms. You will own portions of the turbopump design and provide an active voice in engine test and development. You will report to the Manager of Turbomachinery.
Responsibilities:
- You will perform clean sheet design of turbopump subcomponents and assemblies to meet all system level requirements.
- You will collaborate with the manufacturing, analysis, and test teams to deliver turbopump components on time with DFM, integration, and structural margins in mind.
- You will incorporate design modifications of existing components to increase performance, improve manufacturability, and resolve limitations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience in design, development, and testing.
- 5+ years' experience within hardware-focused organizations.
- 5+ years’ experience working with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX or PTC Creo.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment.
- Design experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Mechanical Design, Bearing Design, Seal Design, Rotor dynamics; balancing fundamentals, and/or DFM, GD&T and blueprint review
- Definition of clear communication process between design, manufacturing, and test operations to ensure products meets all specifications.
- Experience with managing and maintaining large CAD assemblies or structures in a fast-paced manufacturing-heavy environment.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience in turbomachinery design, development, and testing.
- Experience operating in ISO 9001 or AS9100 certified organizations.
- Working knowledge of thermodynamics of incompressible flows and cryogenic fluids.
- Demonstrated proficiency with fundamental manual or CNC machining equipment and processes (milling, turning)
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic principles of design for additive manufacturing
- Liquid propellant rocket engine design, test, or analysis
- Experience with structural and thermal analysis using Ansys FEA software
- 3+ years of PTC Creo or Siemens NX CAD programs and Windchill PLM software
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $95,000- $150,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
