Job Description

Our Oldham site are now recruiting for a Senior Transport Planner to join their friendly team on a full time permanent basis.

Salary: £35,700 per annum. 

Working hours: Monday- Friday, 09:30-17:30.

As a Senior Transport Planner you will deliver a safe, compliant transport plan that both meets the needs of our customers and delivers an optimised solution for Great Bear and Culina Group.

Key Duties of a Senior Transport Planner:

  • Management of the transport planners ensuring clear SOP’s / Processes are in place with all relevant people processes followed.
  • Ensuring bookings are made in line with customer expectations whilst maximising alignment on booking times to increase efficiencies.
  • Overseeing the daily building of a d1-d3 transport plan, ensuring all orders are planned correctly and efficiently whilst making sure plans are resource with the WTD / Driver working time regulations adhered to.
  • Overseeing the allocation of resource to the built plan, ensuring all inbound and outbound orders are planned with chance of success.
  • Ensuring adequate subcontractor resource to meet demand of operational peaks.
  • Planning driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery / collection times, creating and updating daily plan v actual.
  • Finding the best fit solution for customer collections, adhering to collection times, making sure they are aligned to outbound deliveries to maximise efficiencies and reduce empty running.
  • Overseeing and supporting with the running of haulier self-bills on a weekly basis.
  • Support group initiatives and projects such as project TEE / Microlise developments.

Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
  • Attention to detail / accuracy.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
  • Able to work as part of a team or individually.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Strong communicator across all levels.
  • Strong systems skills including tachomaster / tranman / Rpad runner and other planning systems.
