Location: this is a hybrid role. Must be able to commute to one of our Tax & Accounting offices in Coppell, TX, Wichita, KS, Kennesaw, GA or Torrance, CA.
OVERVIEW
The Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality training materials that effectively enhance employee skills and knowledge. This role requires a strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and multimedia development.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Works with subject matter experts to identify the target audience’s training needs.
- Facilitates meetings to gather information required for development.
- Sets instructional end goals and creates content that matches them.
- Collaborates on the design and development of assigned courses based on input from subject matter experts (SMEs), written materials, previous training courses, interviews, etc.
- Works with Learning & Development team, SMEs, management, consultants and related resources to produce draft and final versions of courses.
- Visualizes instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
- Designs screen layouts, exercises, knowledge checks, graphics and interactions appropriate to the content.
- Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.).
- Analyzes, stays current with, and applies industry trends and best practices, i.e., instructional, video and visual storytelling trends, and emerging platforms.
- Devises modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course and enhance the learning process.
- Maintains project documentation and course folders, including milestones, deliverables, stakeholders, LMS reporting, etc.

Job Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, communications, business, or similar experience.
- Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar relevant field preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years experience in instructional design, training & development or equivalent
- Experience designing training for sales teams, required.
- Proficient with authoring tools (Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise) and Learning Managements Systems (Workday Learning), required.
- Experience with editing scripts for use with AI voice-over software (WellSaid, Elevenlabs), required.
- Prior experience working for SaaS companies, preferred

- Proficient / advanced in Microsoft Windows and Office, especially Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Adobe Programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, etc.).
- Experience with video editing, preferred (Camtasia, Premiere, Sony Vegas, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts.
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and flexibility in a busy office environment.
- Experience producing and editing on-camera video productions a plus.
Travel requirements
- 5-10% for team meetings when necessary.
