The opportunity

Altruist's Trade Desk sits at the center of the advisor experience: every order, correction, and market event runs through it. As we launch Margin and Options and expand fixed income, we're hiring a Senior Analyst, Trading as a desk generalist to execute daily order monitoring, break resolution, and advisor support across equities, options, and fixed income, while supporting Credit Risk functions.

This role sits within the Trading & Brokerage Operations organization and reports to [reporting manager]. It is a hands-on individual contributor role with a clear growth path toward the Manager, Trading seat for someone who performs, builds, and aspires to lead.

What you’ll do

As Senior Analyst, Trading, you will be the daily engine of a multi-asset desk: monitoring order flow, resolving breaks, supporting advisors, and escalating issues with sound judgment.

Equity & Options Desk Monitoring

  • Monitor daily order flow, routing, and executions across equities and options, flagging anomalies early
  • Review orders that drop to the review queue, evaluate risk, and escalate per policy
  • Support working not held orders via algo strategies or RFQ under the direction of the Manager, Trading
  • Support advisor questions on orders, executions, corporate-action-driven adjustments, and market events

Fixed Income Order Support

  • Process and monitor fixed income order flow, including treasuries, municipals, corporates, and brokered CDs
  • Respond to advisor questions on bond availability, pricing, yield, and order status
  • Flag pricing and settlement exceptions on fixed income trades and escalate for resolution

Credit Risk Support

  • Support Credit Risk by executing liquidations required to satisfy margin calls and debit obligations
  • Support enforcement of PDT, Good Faith, and Freeride restrictions on the desk
  • Route buying power and restriction questions to Credit Risk with clear context

Trade Lifecycle, Breaks & Corrections

  • Research and resolve trade breaks, process cancels and rebills, and document trade errors under firm policy
  • Support the trade error account process, including documentation and loss tracking
  • Coordinate with clearing and settlement teams on clean trade handoffs

Regulatory & Control Responsibilities

  • Execute daily work in compliance with applicable SEC, FINRA, MSRB, and exchange rules governing order handling and trading
  • Maintain clear documentation and audit evidence for daily reviews, exceptions, and escalations

Build & Improve

  • Provide operational feedback and testing support to Product and Engineering during trading buildouts
  • Identify manual desk steps that can be automated and propose improvements, including experiments with A

Experience & Expertise

  • 2+ years of experience in trading operations, trade support, or on a trading desk at a broker-dealer or custodian
  • Hands-on experience with order handling, trade breaks, or corrections strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of equity and options market mechanics
  • Exposure to fixed income or margin workflows a plus

Technical & Systems Familiarity

  • Experience with OMS platforms such as Sterling or equivalent a plus
  • Familiarity with RFQ platforms (e.g., RFQ Hub, Tradeweb, RFQE) a plus
  • Experience with clearing platforms such as FIS Phase 3 or equivalent a plus
  • Strong Excel skills; comfort with trade data, operational reports, and internal tools

Licensing

  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 required
  • Series 57 required, or must be obtained within 90 days of employment
  • Willingness to obtain additional registrations (such as Series 24 or Series 4) as responsibilities grow
  • Series 52, or willingness to obtain, given municipal order handling
