The Senior Trade Analyst – Foodservice leads strategic pricing, trade investment, and analytics initiatives across the Foodservice channel, supporting profitable growth with national accounts, regional operators, and distributor partners. This role synthesizes complex data from internal systems, distributor insights, and available syndicated sources to identify growth opportunities, optimize contract pricing, and improve trade investment effectiveness.

As a subject matter expert in Foodservice pricing and trade strategy, this individual develops data-driven recommendations that influence key business decisions, including contract negotiations, operator programs, and channel strategy. The Senior Trade Analyst plays a critical leadership role in aligning cross-functional stakeholders and elevating analytical capabilities to support both short-term execution and long-term strategic planning.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Advanced Analytics & Insights

    • Lead advanced analytics to evaluate pricing, trade spend, and promotional effectiveness across Foodservice segments.

    • Analyze operator performance, product mix, and volume trends using internal, distributor, and syndicated data.

    • Conduct price elasticity, margin, and cost-to-serve analyses in a non-scanner data environment.

  • Pricing & Trade Strategy Development

    • Develop and recommend contract pricing strategies, bid frameworks, and customer-specific pricing structures.

    • Design and optimize operator incentive programs and distributor trade strategies aligned to profitability targets.

    • Lead post-event and ROI analysis to evaluate trade investment effectiveness and guide future decisions.

  • Sales & Business Partnership

    • Partner with Sales and Business Development to support RFPs, contract negotiations, and national account planning.

    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Category teams to align strategies.

    • Serve as a key liaison between headquarters and field sales to ensure execution and communication alignment.

  • Planning, Forecasting & Tools

    • Develop and enhance trade planning tools, forecasting models, and reporting frameworks to improve decision-making.

    • Identify and implement process improvements, reporting efficiencies, and advanced analytical methodologies.

  • Leadership & Influence

    • Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee coaching.

WHAT WE’RE SEEKING:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Marketing, Business Administration or related field and 5+ years of relevant Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience in sales, marketing or trade marketing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Strong experience supporting Foodservice channels, including national accounts, distributor networks (e.g., Sysco, US Foods, Performance Food Group), and contract pricing environments.

  • Demonstrated expertise in pricing strategy, trade investment optimization, and financial modeling.

  • Experience working with syndicated data (IRI/Circana, Nielsen) as well as internal shipment and distributor data sources.

  • Proven ability to operate effectively in data-limited environments and generate actionable insights.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) preferred.

  • Strong understanding of Foodservice economics, including distributor margins, operator dynamics, and cost-to-serve considerations.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.

The expected pay range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000 annually.

Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate’s qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
