The Senior Compliance Specialist is a mid-level Trade Compliance professional responsible for leading complex customs, export control, and logistics compliance activities supporting assigned business operations. This role serves as a subject matter expert on customs compliance, import/export regulations, export licensing, special customs procedures, and trade compliance governance. Focus on developing training documentations.
The position supports the development and implementation of customs and trade compliance procedures, conducts advanced compliance reviews, manages higher-risk customs and export control matters, and provides guidance on regulatory risk mitigation. This role requires the ability to apply customs and trade compliance requirements to nuanced operational situations, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and support continuous improvement of compliance controls and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and perform advanced customs, trade compliance and export control reviews across assigned operations.
- Manage complex customs compliance activities, customs declaration controls and record retention obligations.
- Conduct audits on import and export transactions, exception handling, and compliance-sensitive shipments.
- Support export licensing activities, including product classification reviews, controlled goods assessments, licensing applications, renewals, reporting requirements.
- Review end-user, end-use, military undertaking, and customer compliance documentation to ensure compliance with applicable export control regulations.
- Support sanctions compliance activities, denied party screening reviews, and trade compliance due diligence processes.
- Maintain oversight of customs, trade compliance, and regulatory documentation to ensure records remain accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
- Prepare and coordinate responses to internal audits, external audits, customs reviews, and regulatory inspections.
- Provide guidance and support to Operations, Logistics, Customer Service, Finance, Tax, Procurement, and Supply Chain stakeholders on customs and trade compliance requirements.
- Analyze compliance risks, identify process gaps, and support development and implementation of corrective actions and process improvements.
- Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of customs and trade compliance procedures, work instructions, internal controls, and compliance documentation.
- Able to deliver training to the site.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (focus in International Trade, Customs, Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Law, or related field preferred).
• Demonstrated expertise in preferential and non-preferential origin determination.
• Experience working in a multinational and matrixed organization preferred.
• Experience in export licensing administration
• Experience in regulatory across Asia especially in Vietnam
• Experience supporting audits and compliance reviews.
Experience Requirements- 4–9+ years of relevant experience in Trade Compliance, Customs Compliance, Logistics Compliance, International Trade and Export Controls
