Reinvent the Warehouse & Reimagine the Supply Chain®
The Role

Who we are

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

What we need

We are looking for a talented Senior Robotics Test Engineer to join our System Test team and lead the development and implementation of hardware/software solutions for end-of-line testing of subassemblies used in our mobile robots. This role involves designing, documenting, and deploying test systems and procedures for both in-house and supplier production, ensuring full test coverage across all electromechanical components.

You will work closely with product design, software, manufacturing, test, and quality teams to drive robust test coverage and validate system performance. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in test automation for electro-mechanical systems, solid software and hardware integration skills, and a creative mindset for building scalable test strategies.

 What we do

The System Test organization is part of our multidisciplinary group dedicated to validating the performance of Symbotic’s warehouse automation system and driving the highest standards of quality and reliability. System Test is responsible for all aspects of test planning and execution, from early-stage new product development initiatives to continuous improvement of our products in the field.  Every improvement, idea and invention you make gets tested and quickly implemented because our solutions are already in use by some of the nation’s largest retailers.  We solve important global challenges that involve technology, business, science and logistics.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development of diagnostic and repair applications for mobile robots, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership across engineering teams to drive innovation and continuous improvement in product design.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including software, hardware, and product management—to define requirements, architect solutions, and execute against business objectives.

  • Offer Design for Test (DFT) guidance to enhance test coverage, improve fault isolation, and address PCBA failure trends.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for test procedures, fixtures, configurations, and engineering best practices.

  • Deliver turnkey test systems for electromechanical parts and assemblies—both for new product introduction and sustaining engineering efforts.

  • Manage outsourced test development projects, providing technical direction and project oversight.

What you’ll need

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with 8+ years of relevant industry experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles.

  • Proficient with standard electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies. Skilled in selecting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components or designing custom test hardware to meet engineering and manufacturing test requirements.

  • Proven experience deploying and supporting test systems at both domestic and international Contract Manufacturing (CM) sites.

  • Strong test software development skills, with hands-on experience in Python, C#, and Microsoft SQL, across both Windows and Linux environments.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, applying solid knowledge of electronics to debug and analyze complex designs.

  • Familiar with DfX principles and circuit board manufacturing best practices.

  • Competent in analog and digital testing/debug techniques for medium-to-high complexity systems.

  • Experienced with software development tools, particularly Visual Studio and other modern Integrated Development Environments (IDEs).

  • Working knowledge of embedded systems, electrical control systems, motors, sensors, vision systems, and industrial communication protocols such as CANBUS and Ethernet.

Our Environment

  • Up to 10% travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
