Role Overview
Pacific Scientific EMC is expanding and seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer to lead the development, automation, and qualification of electrical test systems that support new and existing manufacturing lines. This role serves as the technical authority for electrical test architecture, automated test equipment (ATE), measurement systems, and data infrastructure - ensuring test coverage, accuracy, and traceability that meet aerospace, customer, and regulatory standards.
The Senior Test Engineer owns the electrical test automation strategy from concept through deployment, leading the creation of automated electrical test stations, data acquisition frameworks, fault‑detection algorithms, and test data systems used across multiple factories. The ideal candidate is deeply technical in electrical test and data engineering, with strong hands-on capabilities in instrumentation, software automation, and large-scale test data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and qualification of automated electrical test systems for new manufacturing lines, including functional, parametric, continuity, isolation, HV, and embedded-interface testing.
- Architect ATE systems integrating power supplies, oscilloscopes, DAQ, DMMs, SMUs, load banks, environmental sensors, and communication interfaces (CAN, SPI, I2C, RS‑485, Ethernet).
- Develop automated electrical test sequences and frameworks using tools such as LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, C#, or similar automation environments.
- Own the test data infrastructure: automated data capture, database schema, retention strategy, analytics dashboards, and data integrity controls across sites.
- Implement data workflows enabling SPC, yield analysis, trend tracking, automated limit setting, and predictive failure analytics.
- Lead qualification (FAT/SAT/IQ/OQ/PQ) of automated electrical test equipment for new factory standups, line transfers, and design introductions.
- Serve as the technical interface with customers for electrical test requirements, validation packages, FAI test data (AS9102), change approvals, and compliance audits.
- Define detailed electrical test specifications, acceptance criteria, pass/fail logic, calibration requirements, and data reporting structures.
- Ensure test systems meet aerospace regulatory expectations including AS9100, AS9145, AS9102, calibration traceability, environmental stress screening (ESS), EMC requirements, and configuration management.
- Develop automated diagnostics and fault isolation algorithms leveraging electrical signatures, embedded telemetry, and multi-sensor data.
- Lead cross-functional root cause analysis for electrical test failures, guiding teams through data-driven troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, and automation layers.
- Support DFT (Design for Test) efforts, advising design engineering on electrical interfaces, built-in self-test (BIST), instrumentation access, and diagnosability.
- Develop electrical test fixtures, harnesses, interface PCBs, and wiring schematics for automated test hardware.
- Support supplier and CM test readiness through audits, test capability reviews, and electrical test process qualifications.
- Mentor junior engineers in electrical test principles, automation methodologies, and test data analytics.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5-8+ years of progressive experience in electrical test engineering and test automation within aerospace, defense, automotive, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar technical discipline.
- Deep expertise in developing automated electrical test systems for production environments, including instrumentation, signal measurement, and automated fault detection.
- Strong proficiency in test automation languages and frameworks (LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, C#, NI hardware, automated DAQ systems).
- Proven experience designing and managing test data infrastructure—databases, data pipelines, dashboards, real-time analytics, and statistical monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace standards including AS9100, AS9145 (APQP/PPAP), AS9102, calibration requirements, configuration management, and ESS practices.
- Expertise interpreting electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and system architecture documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems, embedded interfaces, and automated test failures with structured problem-solving tools.
- Strong communication, documentation, leadership, and cross-functional alignment skills.
- Behavior aligned to our guiding principles: We Win as One Team, We Solve Problems, We Learn by Doing, We Unlock Growth, and We Own Our Future.
- Export Control Requirement: Due to U.S. Government contract requirements applicable to this position, only U.S. citizens are eligible for employment in this role.
