Position Summary
The Senior Technology Project Manager defines, leads, and manages the timely completion of engineering projects of high complexity and moderate risk (e.g. cross-organization business/product line involvement with extended duration and scope) under limited supervision. This role exercises judgment within defined strategy, practices, and procedures, to accomplish high difficulty projects in an agile environment. The Senior Technology Project Manager communicates effectively and manages by flexing their style to work with all levels within the organization, from individual contributors to senior executives. This role also mentors and guides level 1 and level 2 Technology Project Managers.
Position Responsibilities & Essential function
- Responsible for all aspects of the managing the project: project goals, scope, resource mix, budget, execution workflow, dependencies, communication and change management plans, risk mitigation, and governance.
- Execute and track project against set goals, timelines, committed results, quality gates, and performance KPIs.
- Follow effective processes to optimize delivery within an agile/Safe environment.
- Identify, escalate, and resolve conflicts.
- Provide status updates to all stakeholders, per governance model.
- Implement medium to large, cross-team, multi-year projects and programs.
- Align project plans to roadmaps (budgets, resources, dependencies, etc.).
- Define project metrics, and communicate progress, exceptions, and trends to executives.
- Work with development leaders to define, collect, and analyze relevant development team project metrics, with an eye towards continuous improvement.
- Identify and manage project risks and develop mitigation plans
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, business conditions, and internal processes and practices to influence the success of project initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in technical program or project management, preferably within a software development environment.
- Proven track record of managing complex, large-scale projects from inception to launch.
- Strong technical background with an understanding of software engineering principles, architecture, and development methodologies.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, and/or Kanban methodologies.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, MS Office, Visio, etc).
Preferred Skills
- Project Management or Agile Certification (PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, CSP).
- Experience working in an agile software development environment. and collaborating with off-shore agile teams.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, DevOps practices, or experience in SaaS environments
- Good understanding of technology stack, product lifecycle, and the automotive industry.
- Experience in collaborating across business/product lines
Compensation: $89,000 - 115,000
CDK Global is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation packages are based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, certifications, and work location.
