About Helion

We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.

Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). We are now operating Polaris, our next prototype on the path to the world's first fusion power plant.

This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths – values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.

What You Will Be Doing:

You will apply technical expertise to support engineering research, development, and manufacturing by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory systems, with a focus on vacuum technology and experimental equipment. You will execute hands-on technical work while ensuring safety, quality, and operational reliability across the RaSNS department.

You will operate within structured procedures, contribute to system improvements, and develop technical depth through problem-solving and continuous learning. You will report to senior technical staff and work closely with engineers and fellow technologists in a highly collaborative, onsite laboratory environment.

You Will:

  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory research and development systems, including vacuum and mechanical systems.

  • Execute technical tasks with attention to detail, following established procedures while identifying issues and escalating when needed.

  • Support operation of analytical tools and equipment, capturing accurate, high-quality data.

  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment failures and contribute to root cause identification and resolution.

  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of work performed, including procedures, system changes, and results.

  • Use digital tools (such as JIRA) to track tasks, communicate progress, and document technical activities.

  • Follow safety protocols rigorously, including proper PPE use, hazard awareness, and adherence to controlled work practices.

  • Learn and support radiological work practices, including contamination control, surveys, and tritium handling procedures.

  • Collaborate with engineers, senior technologists, and peers to support technical projects and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, laboratory equipment, or technical workflows.

  • Foundational understanding of vacuum systems or strong aptitude to learn vacuum and mechanical assemblies quickly.

  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and perform repeatable tasks with consistency and accuracy.

  • Strong safety mindset with willingness to learn and apply proper hazard controls and work planning practices.

  • Ability to recognize technical issues, think critically, and seek guidance when appropriate.

  • Clear and disciplined approach to documentation and recordkeeping.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in a technical environment.

  • Willingness and ability to learn radiological materials work, including contamination control, surveys, and controlled-area practices.

  • Familiarity with structured work environments and use of task tracking tools (e.g., JIRA) or similar systems.

  • Demonstrated reliability, coachability, and a growth mindset with interest in developing technical expertise.
