The Senior Technical Recruiter will serve as a trusted talent advisor and strategic partner to business leaders, specializing in the identification, attraction, and hiring of technical talent supporting digital services, software development, data, and AI-driven initiatives across Patterson-UTI. This role goes beyond requisition management and focuses on building deep technical talent networks, developing proactive pipelines, and delivering high-impact hiring outcomes in a competitive and evolving market.

 

The Senior Technical Recruiter will bring expertise in sourcing both within and outside the oil and gas industry, translating technical requirements into effective talent strategies, and delivering an exceptional candidate and stakeholder experience. This individual will operate in a highly consultative, client-facing capacity, influencing hiring decisions, shaping workforce strategies, and elevating recruiting practices through innovative sourcing, market intelligence, and disciplined execution.

 

This role will work under the direction of the Director of Talent Acquisition and will align and coordinate activities with other HR functions both locally and regionally.

 

Detailed Description:

  • Partner with business leaders to understand technical hiring needs and develop targeted recruiting strategies aligned with workforce planning and business priorities.

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for technical roles including software engineering, data and analytics, AI and machine learning, digital platforms, and related disciplines.

  • Build and maintain strong networks and pipelines of technical talent through proactive sourcing, referrals, market mapping, and industry engagement.

  • Source candidates from both within the oil and gas industry and adjacent industries to broaden and strengthen technical talent pipelines.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to hiring managers, providing insight on talent markets, candidate expectations, and effective selection strategies.

  • Manage the end-to-end recruiting process including candidate identification, attraction, assessment, interview coordination, offer development, negotiation, and close.

  • Deliver a high-quality candidate experience through clear communication, timely follow-up, and professional engagement throughout the recruiting lifecycle.

  • Drive effective stakeholder management by setting expectations, maintaining alignment, and ensuring accountability across hiring teams.

  • Utilize data, reporting, and market insights to inform recruiting strategies and continuously improve outcomes.

  • Support continuous improvement of recruiting processes, tools, and practices to enhance efficiency, consistency, and scalability.

  • Represent the company’s employment brand through networking, referrals, and external engagement with technical talent communities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain Company and employee confidentiality at all times and handle sensitive information appropriately.

  • Proven success recruiting for complex technical roles, including software development, data, AI, or related disciplines.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage talent networks, referral pipelines, and sourcing strategies for hard-to-find technical talent.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to business leaders.

  • Expertise in sourcing strategies including direct sourcing, networking, and engagement of passive candidates.

  • Experience managing full-cycle recruiting processes with strong attention to candidate experience and execution quality.

  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), preferably Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC), and recruiting technologies.

  • Strong organizational and process management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical candidates and business leaders effectively.

  • Willingness to travel as needed to hiring events, job fairs, and business locations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or other related field of study.

  • 5+ years of full cycle recruiting experience across a variety of professional and technical roles.

  • 3+ years of experience in recruiting for software, data, digital, or engineering-related positions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience recruiting in energy, oil and gas, industrial, or adjacent industries.

  • Experience sourcing talent from both within and outside traditional industry boundaries.

  • Experience using advanced sourcing tools, platforms, or AI-enabled recruiting technologies.

  • Experience working in Oracle HCM (ORC) Applicant Tracking System.

 

Additional Details:

Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone and other office equipment. Trave to other Company offices and field locations may be required.
