ICON plc is a world-leading healthcare intelligence and clinical research organization. We’re proud to foster an inclusive environment driving innovation and excellence, and we welcome you to join us on our mission to shape the future of clinical development
We are currently seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to join our diverse and dynamic team. As a Senior Technical Project Manager at ICON, you will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical projects that support our clinical research operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and in alignment with business objectives.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Leading the end-to-end management of technical projects, from initiation through to delivery, ensuring they meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to define project goals, scope, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication, resource allocation, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Managing project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Providing leadership and mentorship to project teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Your Profile:
- Strong hands‑on project management skills are a must. They need to be comfortable owning projects end‑to‑end, managing the full software development lifecycle, keeping work on track, handling change requests, and making sure things are delivered the way clients expect.
- They need to be a confident people leader. This role involves guiding and mentoring other project managers and support staff, setting clear direction, and helping the team work better together while continuously improving how work gets done.
- Good client communication skills are essential. They will be the main technical point of contact for customers, so they need to explain things clearly, manage expectations, handle questions or issues, and build strong working relationships with clients.
- Experience working with processes, rules, and compliance is important. They should be used to following standard operating procedures, working in regulated environments, and making sure projects meet required standards, without losing sight of efficiency and value.
- They must be comfortable with documentation and attention to detail. Reviewing, approving, and maintaining system documentation, managing change control, and making sure releases meet quality expectations are all key parts of the job.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are required. They will work closely with internal teams, so being able to coordinate across departments and keep everyone aligned is critical.
- A high level of professionalism and discretion. They will be trusted with sensitive project and client information and need to handle it responsibly at all times.
- Finally, they need to be organized, adaptable, and flexible. This role involves juggling multiple priorities, responding to changing project needs, taking on additional responsibilities when needed, and being open to some domestic or international travel.
5-7 years’ experience of delivering IRT systems and integrations (Not from a programming or validation exp.).
