We are a hybrid company with a focus on in-person collaboration when necessary. Employees are expected to be available to work from one of our office hubs at least two days per week, or eight days per month. Our US hub locations include: Austin, TX; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; and the Washington, DC metro area. If this is a role based in Europe, our Europe hub locations are London, UK and Amsterdam, NL. Please ensure you can realistically commit to this structure before applying.

We’re looking for a passionate and driven individual as an Individual Contributor to join our Technical Program Management team in BetterUp’s Research & Development organization. The ideal candidate has a track record of successfully owning high business-impact projects from inception to execution and rollout. You will be responsible for driving multiple product-led programs and projects, as well as managing dependencies and stakeholders from our partner teams. Your ability to handle ambiguity, make informed decisions, and create clarity for teams will be crucial in delivering successful outcomes for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in program management, exceptional communication and leadership skills, strong project management expertise, and the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams. (Past product or engineering management experience is a plus.).

What you'll do:

  • Bias towards impact — Set an example by demonstrating the values and behaviors promoted by the organization. Provide guidance and advice on direction and operations.

  • Impact business priorities and deliver customer value by managing multiple programs and projects, ensuring successful delivery and achievement of desired outcomes.

  • Navigate technical complexity with confidence — Drive technical discussions with engineering teams on API and platform architectures, integration patterns, and system design trade-offs. Translate technical constraints into business implications and vice versa, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and program objectives.

  • Bring clarity to complex scenarios by acting autonomously as a representative for your area. Make informed decisions and provide guidance to your wider team. Foster collaboration, communication, and trust among team members, while encouraging diversity and inclusion.

  • Build strong cross-functional bridges with stakeholders from both internal and external teams, including technical partners and integration teams. Foster collaboration and effective communication across organizational boundaries. Demonstrate exemplary written and verbal communication skills, acting as the initial point of contact for stakeholders.

  • Set clear priorities and establish timeline expectations across multiple teams and organizational objectives, without hampering productivity. Utilize industry-standard tools and AI capabilities creatively to solve problems and improve program efficiency.

  • Leverage AI as a force multiplier — Design and implement AI-powered workflows to accelerate program delivery, automate operational overhead, and surface insights from complex data. Champion responsible AI adoption across your programs while maintaining human judgment for strategic decisions.

  • Raise the visibility of risks and manage dependencies, balance risks, and prevent threats—particularly in regulated or high-stakes environments where precision and compliance are critical.

If you have some or all of the following please apply:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management, solutions engineering, or partner integrations

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience

  • Strong understanding of APIs, platform architecture, data integrations, and system workflows

  • Experience working with Product, Design, Engineering, Data and GTM teams with a thorough understanding of product and software development processes

  • Proven, illustrated track record of successfully delivering complex programs, projects, or products at scale

  • Comfortable operating in regulated or high-stakes environments

  • Strong decision-making abilities, capable of resolving critical problems

  • Strong leadership skills, including collaboration, relationship-building, bridging gaps between teams, influencing without authority, and demonstrating empathy towards business stakeholders

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering teamwork and trust

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate to diverse audiences—including technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the impact when changes occur to scope or timeline

  • Expert proficiency with Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, JPD, Atlas) required

  • Practical experience with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) to enhance productivity, generate insights, and automate routine work required

  • Familiarity with design collaboration tools (Figma) to engage effectively with Product and Design partners

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this role is as follows.

  • New York City and San Francisco: $164,000 - $225,000

  • Austin and Arlington: $147,000 - $202,000
