Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced Product Owner and Technical Product Manager to join our growing Digital Platforms team (Global eCommerce Platforms) and play a critical role in shaping the future of our enterprise digital services and omnichannel marketing capabilities. This person will be a key driver in our digital transformation journey, helping us to elevate customer engagement and deliver seamless, connected experiences across digital touchpoints.
As a Technical Product Manager, you will lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for onsite search and discovery functionality across our eCommerce platform — including but not limited to search engines, ranking algorithms, faceted navigation, autocomplete, merchandising rules, and personalization. You will work at the intersection of commerce, data science, and UX, delivering intuitive, high-converting search experiences that connect users to the right products, faster.
Key Responsibilities:
- Platform Ownership: Own and optimize the onsite search and discovery platform, ensuring it delivers relevant, performant, and personalized search results that support business objectives and enhance user experience.
- Search Platform Management: Oversee the design, development, and optimization of the website’s search infrastructure (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr, Algolia, Coveo etc.). Ensure the search platform delivers fast, relevant, and personalized results. Drive search algorithm improvements including ranking, filtering, faceting, localisation and synonym management.
- Product Strategy: Define and communicate a clear, data-driven product vision and roadmap that supports the broader digital platform and business strategy.
- Customer-Centric Innovation: Act as the voice of the customer, using research and data insights to guide prioritization, solutioning and continuously improve the search experience for diverse customer segments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders across Product Management, Marketing, Analytics, IT, UX, Merchandising and Engineering to deliver cohesive search experiences.
- Backlog Management: Own and prioritize the product backlog, translating strategic objectives into actionable user stories, technical requirements and acceptance criteria that support both short-term improvements and long-term strategy.
- Performance & Optimization: Define KPIs, monitor product performance, and implement continuous improvements for usability, personalization, engagement and communicate performance updates and insights to business stakeholder.
- Change Agent: Champion adoption of digital tools and capabilities across teams, support change management efforts with clear communication and strategic enablement, promote experimentation, A/B testing, and data-driven iteration.
- Emerging Tech & AI Integration: Explore emerging technologies in natural language processing (NLP), vector search, large language models (LLMs), and AI-powered recommendations to future-proof the search experience.
- Team Management: Demonstrate outstanding management and leadership skills and ability to attract, retain, motivate, develop, mentor and coach team members for high performance. Establish key operational objectives and delegate assignments to cross-functional teams.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with search engine vendors (e.g., SOLR Algolia, Elasticsearch, Lucidworks), platform integrators, and technology providers. Monitor SLAs and contribute to budgeting and roadmap planning.
Qualifications Required:
- 10+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in search, digital marketing, eCommerce, or digital transformation environments.
- 10+ years of experience owning onsite search or discovery capabilities within an enterprise-scale commerce platform (e.g., SAP Commerce Cloud, Salesforce Commerce, Adobe Commerce).
- Hands-on experience with search engines (e.g., Algolia, Elastic, Solr, Coveo) and integration with PIM, CMS, and analytics tools. Proven experience driving improvements in search performance, personalization, merchandising logic, and relevance tuning.
- Strong analytical mindset; skilled at interpreting search analytics and using insights to drive prioritization and experimentation.
- Work closely with engineering, UX, data science, content, SEO, and product teams to deliver best-in-class search experiences.
- Translate business goals into technical search requirements and vice versa.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into business value.
- Lead and develop virtual cross-functional teams.
- Expert independent decision making, analysis and problem-solving skills. Operate with substantial latitude for independent action or decision.
- Plan and manage complex and successful projects; understand available resources, develop timeline, budget and assign areas of responsibility
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Preferred:
- Experience working in highly matrixed, enterprise organizations.
- Exposure to or interest in AI-driven marketing technologies, including neural search, query expansion, and vector-based search models.
- Passion for building fast, intuitive, and intelligent search experiences that drive business growth.
