Job Description

AECOM’s Highways team in Brisbane is growing and we’re looking for an experienced Senior Technical Officer to help deliver some of Queensland’s most important transport infrastructure projects.

With a strong pipeline of work across TMR and major local government clients, this is a role where you’ll step into real design leadership, take ownership of complex packages, and play a key role in shaping how projects are delivered.

How you’ll make a difference

  • Lead the geometric design of highways, arterial roads and intersections using 12d

  • Deliver high-quality design aligned with TMR RPDM and Austroads standards

  • Own complex design packages including:

    • Horizontal and vertical geometry

    • Cross sections and corridor modelling

    • Superelevation and drainage interfaces

  • Act as a design lead on major TMR projects, coordinating inputs across multidisciplinary teams

  • Mentor and support designers and junior engineers, building capability across the team

  • Contribute to innovation in digital engineering, modelling and automation

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years’ experience in civil design, ideally within highways or transport infrastructure

  • Strong capability in 12d and AutoCAD (essential)

  • Experience with 12d drainage (highly regarded)

  • Exposure to Civil 3D, OpenRoads and/or MicroStation (advantageous)

  • Associate Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering

  • Proven experience delivering TMR, TfNSW, VicRoads or major council projects (e.g. BCC, GCCC)

  • Confidence working across multidisciplinary teams and managing design interfaces
