The Senior Technical Enterprise Data Steward is expected to make several key contributions to the organization, primarily focused on managing and maintaining the quality, integrity, and accessibility of data across MVW. The Senior Technical Enterprise Data Steward focuses on overseeing and managing the organization's data, systems, or resources to ensure they are used efficiently, securely, and in compliance with internal standards and regulations. This role will work with our Global Technology (GT) partners to ensure data and technology align with the MVW’s strategic Data Enablement vision, ensuring that systems and data are aligned with business goals
The job responsibilities are a combination of technical and data enablement activities; including implementing and managing data enablement policies, standards, and procedures, adding and maintaining data assets in the data catalog, monitoring data quality across systems, and working with the appropriate resources to resolve any issues that may arise
Overall, the Senior Technical Enterprise Data Steward plays a critical role in ensuring that the data across the organization is treated as an asset, properly managed, and effectively used to drive business insights and decision-making
Expected Contributions
Provide technical advice and support to existing Data Enablement tools (e.g. APIs, data pipelines, schedules, Power BI reports) and help implement enhancements to existing design to ensure their technical efficiency
Ensure compliance data is available as expected for auditing purposes. Monitor data pipeline performance and troubleshoot data-related issues in a timely manner
Provide Enterprise level support and guidance for data stewards including:
Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the Data Catalog and Data Quality tool along with guiding new users through the training process for both tools
Assist with issue resolution
Partnering with the business and GT to define standards and ensuring compliance
Partner with data stewards and GT to ensure complete data lineage is available and accurate
Partner with Privacy and Security teams to ensure data assets have the appropriate controls in place
Support Data Catalog curation and management by ensuring assets are added appropriately and maintained correctly
Identify areas of opportunity to drive reduction of redundancies and inefficiencies with a focus on leveraging existing available data
Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and GT departments for data-related concerns
Identify and resolve data quality issues in collaboration with data owners and business stakeholders
Assist in data impact assessments for new projects, system changes or data migrations
Strong knowledge of data governance and how it impacts business decisions
Develops an understanding of MVW business processes and how they interact with MVW applications.
Works collaboratively with business users to understand complexities of the business and ensure timely exchange of information, user satisfaction, and process improvements
Assists in special projects as required
Performs other duties as needed
Candidate Profile
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Data Science, or a related field
Experience
5+ years of experience in data engineering related roles, performing activities such as: development of ETLs, Data Pipelines, Lakehouses and PowerBI Reporting
At least 3+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship or related fields
Experience working with data.world or similar data cataloging platforms
Experience with Data Quality Rule implementation
Development experience with business intelligence tools, such as Power BI
Hospitality and/or Timeshare experience preferred but not mandatory
Skills and Attributes:
Strong experience in Microsoft Fabric, APIs, Data Pipelines, JSON, PowerBI development, Warehouses, and ETL technologies
Strong understanding of data quality, governance, and security principles
Experience with Data Quality Tools and Metadata Management systems
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
