HubSpot is a rapidly growing, publicly traded technology company that has organically grown revenue from just under $100 million at the time of our IPO in 2014 to projecting more than $2.5 billion in 2024. With top-line growth that will happen for years to come we are looking for a senior technical accountant to join our accounting team! This role will continuously interact with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Facilities, and most other departments to ensure that HubSpot is compliant with all aspects of US GAAP.
In this role you’ll get to:
- Assess new and amended lease contracts (including subleases, extensions, expansions, etc.) for appropriate accounting under ASC 842
- Partner with FP&A and Facilities to understand the leasing pipeline and assist with planning expenses associated with new and amended leases and other facilities expenses
- Assess and monitor accounting related to strategic investments including assessments of controlling interest, impairments, and related party considerations
- Partner with Corporate Development to understand the investment strategy and the strength of the investments in our portfolio
- Prepare GL entries and document month-end closing activities and reconciliations for various accounts/processes including debt, equity, stock compensation, leases, strategic investments
- Prepare the Statement of Cashflows
- Assist with various ad hoc technical accounting topics that arise periodically including acquisitions and other significant unusual transactions
- Assist with various aspects of SEC and statutory financial reporting including preparing various 10-Q and 10-K footnotes
- Assist with the content and delivery of accounting trainings to be delivered to the wider team
- Complete monthly/quarterly/annual balance sheet and P&L fluxes and assist FP&A with explaining budget v. actual variances
- Play a key role in coordination between Accounting and both internal and external audit teams
We are looking for people who have:
- Accounting degree
- 2-4 years of professional experience in accounting, ideally at a public accounting firm
- CPA preferred, or planned path to obtain CPA license
- Proficiency in Excel is required, Netsuite a plus
- Desire to constantly be learning and improve their skills and knowledge
- Big picture mindset to understand the impact of technical accounting decisions on the organization
- Willingness to roll-up your sleeves when work needs to get done
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Strong oral and written skills and the ability to communicate
Cash compensation range: 84000-126000 USD Annually

The cash compensation above includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
