What do we need
We are seeking a Tax Manager to build out the company’s tax team. The right person for this position will have experience managing the US federal, state, and foreign tax profile of a fast growing business, preferably in the software sector. Our company has an intricate business model with several recently acquired companies. You will help develop and manage the company’s processes for all tax matters and ensure that our company is in compliance with all relevant local, state, federal, and international tax laws. In this role you will also assist with managing and reviewing the company’s tax profile to minimize tax exposures, and create internal taxation policies and incorporate these policies into current accounting procedures.
In this role you will get to:
- Work closely with tax advisors and coordinate with internal finance team to timely and accurately provide information required for quarterly estimates and annual tax compliance
- Review compliance work papers and filings
- Assist with the calculation and review of transfer pricing adjustments and work with Accounting to record appropriate journal entries
- Manage sales tax data for monthly sales tax returns and maintain the company’s sales tax filing profile and sales tax exemption certificates for different brands and products
- Lead tax agency communications including responding to notices and requests for information and making necessary inquiries to resolve issues / discrepancies
- Assist with tax planning, including acquisition-related tax accounting, PE management and risk assessment, global structure effectiveness
- Respond to daily tax inquiries from business teams, investors, and business partners
- Support business team to perform tax assessment for new products, and help develop efficient and consistent tax solutions across jurisdictions
- Review the company’s business operations against the changing tax landscape to determine potential tax risks and assist in developing tax solutions to manage such risks
- Provide tax training or tax updates to relevant business teams in effort to minimize tax exposure
- Assist with budget and billing review and approval process
We are looking for people who can demonstrate in depth working knowledge of tax management, with a at least 3+ years managing tax processes within a SaaS company. You will have expertise in U.S. and international tax concepts and experience working with personnel and/or tax advisors across the globe. Ideally holding an Accounting major or Master of Tax, LLM.
The key skills we are looking for are:
- In depth expertise in preparing and reviewing detailed workpapers and calculations pertaining to the tax provision and tax compliance filings
- Strong understanding of sales tax treatment of different product types;
- Working knowledge of sales tax nexus rules.
- Expert knowledge of working with various state tax agencies (e.g., managing notices, audits, or information requests)
- Knowledge of transfer pricing concepts and prior experience computing and/or reviewing transfer pricing adjustments
- International tax experience pertaining to PE risk, tax treaties, and indirect tax (VAT, GST, etc.)
You will also have
- Strong organization skills with ability to quickly change gears for changing priorities
- Proficient in NetSuite with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, lookup functions, etc.)
- Excellent research and writing skills and ability to effectively discuss technical tax matters with non-tax personnel

$145,395—$171,050 USD
