As a key member of the tax team, you’ll work on complex tax matters that span income tax accounting, federal tax compliance, partnership taxation, publicly traded partnership (PTP) reporting, tax planning, and strategic business initiatives.

Reporting to the Sr. Federal Tax Manager, you’ll partner with professionals across finance, accounting, treasury, legal, and business teams to support a leading global investment management firm. You’ll also work directly with external advisors and auditors on technical tax matters and special projects.

This position is well suited for a public accounting professional seeking broader investment management industry exposure, increased ownership, and the opportunity to build an in-house tax career. This role provides significant visibility across the finance organization, exposure to sophisticated tax and business issues, and a path for continued professional growth within AB.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and support the quarterly and annual income tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Prepare and review federal income tax returns and supporting workpapers, including Forms 1120 and 1065.
  • Assist with Schedule K-1 preparation, reporting, and investor tax support activities for a PTP, including responding to investor inquiries and managing the K-1 support mailbox.
  • Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments and support annual cash forecasting activities.
  • Conduct tax research related to federal tax law, regulatory changes, and emerging tax issues, providing practical recommendations to management.
  • Support federal tax planning initiatives, transaction analysis, and strategic business projects while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve tax processes.
  • Partner with accounting and strategic finance teams to ensure the accurate tax treatment of transactions and proper financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and auditors on tax compliance and provision-related matters.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, AI, and process improvements within the tax function.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A Master of Taxation or Master of Accounting degree is a plus.
  • CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive tax experience.
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4, national, or regional accounting firm) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASC 740 income tax accounting, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing federal corporate or partnership tax returns, including Forms 1120 and 1065.
  • Tax research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical tax guidance and communicate practical business recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and tax research platforms such as Checkpoint, CCH, or Bloomberg Tax.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
