The Role and Responsibilities
Job Purpose
- Responsible for the management and execution of EnerMech’s tax compliance, tax reporting and commercial tax advisory functions in the Americas region. In addition, responsible for other tax work in the Americas region and globally as directed by the Tax Director. ‘Tax’ will cover all taxes arising in the normal course of business at the Group, including but not limited to corporate tax, corporate withholding tax, personal income tax, VAT and sales taxes, custom duties and any other related taxes.
- To work with the Tax Director on implementing Global tax improvements and initiatives including systems improvements, documenting tax processes and specific tax projects
- To assist in representing the Group in its relationship with the relevant tax authorities in the Americas region.
- Responsible for management of all tax audits in the Americas region
Compliance
- Monitor changes in tax laws that may impact the group’s tax positions.
- Responsible for Americas regions transfer pricing monitoring and compliance, including monitoring our internal financing arrangements, management fee arrangements, and sub-contract arrangements throughout the Americas group.
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring Americas regions compliance obligations are met for Corporate Tax and Withholding tax, including optimising cash tax costs whilst balancing the requirement to remit funds from the region to Group treasury.
- Ensuring monthly Americas (with support of US Tax Analyst) tax report is prepared on time for the Tax Director.
- Supervision, computation (as required) and approval over all US tax computations and returns resulting from initial data preparation by US Tax Analyst and return completion by external firm. Filings made directly by tax analyst (and Sr Tax Analyst as required) include sales and use, property and others at county, state and federal level. Returns prepared by external firm include state and federal corporate income taxes, federal withholding taxes and others.
- Management and updating of sales tax matrix and tax calendar.
- Supervision of day-to-day management of correspondence for all taxes and responses with US state and federal authorities, including tax assessments and tax audits.
- Coordinate, manage, and review of Canada, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago, and Guyana quarterly income tax reporting, income tax compliance, tax audits, and transfer pricing compliance, as applicable including but not limited to: Review of the current and deferred tax reporting calculations.
- Provide coaching and training to team members and direct reports including application of tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
Commercial tax advisory
- Review of tax clauses in tender documents/ contract proposals and advice on mitigating the Group’s tax risk, whilst optimising our tax exposure and remaining commercially competitive.
- Responsible for identifying all relevant incremental tax costs of doing business in a foreign location for any particular entity based in the Americas region, including all cross border WHT, irrecoverable PIT, social security, import taxes and other sales taxes in particular. Reviewing and advising on specific cost models required by the commercial team.
- Assess tax accounting implications of any proposed transactions
- For any work in new or complex foreign jurisdictions, responsible for engaging with local tax advisors to ensure all tax risks are well understood and communicated to the business. Responsible for implementing any agreed tax planning solutions agreed with the local tax advisors, in consultation with the Tax Director.
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce the effective tax rate across the Americas region.
Tax Accounting and Reporting
- Responsible for the ongoing monthly management and maintenance of the America regions’ tax accounts within NAV, including identification and correction of any mispostings through the year as well as ensuring regular updated tax positions are posted throughout the year on a forecast basis.
- Responsible for delivery of year-end IFRS tax reporting packs within agreed audit timetable for all entities within the Americas region. Responsible for working with the auditors and broader finance team to resolve any year-end tax queries on the respective entities. Additional assistance where required by the Tax Director for entities outwith the region.
- Responsible for Americas tax forecasting throughout the year.

Essential
- Accounting degree quailed
- Holding a recognised professional tax and / or accountancy qualification
- At least 7 year’s relevant tax experience demonstrating growth in responsibilities
- Demonstrable international tax experience gained within either top 10 accountancy practice or international business environment.
Preferred
- Senior tax experience within international organisations.
- Background of promoting understanding of tax concepts to non-tax and non-financial colleagues.
- 7 years plus PQE
