What you will be doing
As an integral member of the DXC Australia New Zealand (“ANZ”) tax team, focusing mainly on Australian and New Zealand income tax compliance but with the potential to assist in the area of indirect tax compliance as well. This role reports directly to the DXC APAC Tax Director in Sydney; however, will also support an ANZ Tax Principal in Perth and an ANZ Senior Tax Manager in Melbourne.
This role can be based anywhere within Australia.
What will keep you busy
- Preparation of the Australian Group’s corporate tax return, including assistance with Country-by-Country Reporting.
- Preparation of New Zealand income tax returns.
- Preparation of, or assistance in relation to, FBT and GST returns.
- Assistance with US tax reporting obligations, e.g. US GAAP year-end tax provisions, quarterly reporting, posting of journal entries.
- Preparation of IFRS tax provisions for local Australian and New Zealand statutory accounts.
- Assistance with ad-hoc issues such as the ACA calculations for newly acquired entities, consolidation and integration issues, internal restructures etc.
- Assistance with various withholding tax issues (e.g. liaising with the Accounts Payable team to determine whether withholding tax is required).
- Assistance with the calculation of tax payments (e.g., PAYG income tax instalments).
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly tax account reconciliations.
- Assisting in relation to ATO risk reviews and in relation to the tax risk management issues for the broader Australian and New Zealand group.
The skills you will bring
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred
- CA/CPA or near CA/CPA qualified who has solid Australian tax experience in a Big 4, second tier or large corporate group
- Three or more years of experience in Australian tax (preferably income tax, GST and FBT)
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
- Working knowledge (or better) of SAP or similar
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
- Ability to work independently and also as part of a team.
