The opportunity

Unity’s Global Tax team is hiring a Senior Tax Analyst to support U.S. income tax reporting and compliance, including quarterly and annual ASC 740 provisions, U.S. federal and multistate tax returns, and R&D tax credit studies.

You will be a key contributor in preparing accurate, review-ready calculations and workpapers that support Form 10-Q and Form 10-K tax reporting, effective tax rate analysis, cash-tax forecasting, and the federal and multistate compliance cycle. You will coordinate with external advisors and partner with Accounting, Revenue Accounting, External Reporting, FP&A, Payroll, Treasury, Engineering/R&D, Legal, and Procurement. In the first year, success means becoming a dependable preparer across recurring provision and compliance workstreams while improving the team’s processes and controls.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP income tax provision workpapers under ASC 740, including current and deferred tax, effective tax rate analysis, return-to-provision adjustments, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Supporting the U.S. federal and multistate compliance lifecycle by preparing and reviewing data requests, book-to-tax adjustments, state apportionment, estimates, extensions, and workpapers and returns prepared by external advisors.
  • Supporting R&D tax credit studies and related Section 174 analysis by gathering data, validating assumptions, preparing calculations, and documenting conclusions.
  • Partnering with Accounting, External Reporting, FP&A, external auditors, and tax advisors to support tax disclosures, SOX controls, audits, cash-tax forecasts, and recurring deadlines.
  • Improving tax processes, controls, reconciliations, and data workflows using OneSource Tax Provision, Excel, and appropriate automation and AI tools.

What we’re looking for

  • Hands-on experience preparing ASC 740 income tax provision calculations and supporting workpapers.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and multistate corporate income tax compliance, including book-to-tax adjustments and state apportionment.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with large data sets, building and reviewing complex calculations, reconciling results, identifying discrepancies, and producing clean, review-ready workpapers.
  • Experience coordinating with external tax advisors and managing multiple deliverables through tight reporting and filing deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to produce accurate, well-organized, review-ready documentation.

You might also have

  • Public-company reporting, SOX controls, and external-audit experience.
  • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, Alteryx, or similar tax technology.
  • Experience with R&D tax credits, Section 174, and technology or SaaS companies.

This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
