About the Role
Dandy is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant who will play an integral role in designing and launching compliance initiatives across all aspects of indirect and direct taxes. This candidate, reporting to the Controller, will be joining at an exciting time as we implement a sales tax engine and build the processes needed to ensure a framework of proper compliance as the Company scales.
We are looking for a self-starter with an operational mindset who can navigate the complex landscape of tax compliance, be a subject matter expert for the Company, provide high quality recommendations to management, and have the follow through to lead cross functional teams to build processes. This role requires someone who can thrive in a fast paced, agile, and ambiguous environment while still maintaining an ownership mentality to prioritize deliverables and meet deadlines.
What You’ll Do

Manage sales taxability of the Company’s product offerings, ensuring that the sales tax engine is appropriately charging sales tax to customers and making the necessary filings/remittances timely

Build and manage the sales tax exemption process, ensuring that sales tax is not being charged to exempt customers and that the Company itself is only paying sales tax when appropriate

Liaise with external tax advisors and return filers to address tax matters

Liaise with external tax authorities and regulators

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Assist in the ongoing automation and evaluation of systems, processes and controls to enable company scalability

Collaborate with colleagues and consultants to proactively tackle any new changes across the business
What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field

Minimum 4 yrs in a tax-related role

Strong understanding of tax concepts

Excellent Excel skills required and comfortability with large data sets

Accustomed to multitasking, prioritizing, and meeting multiple tight deadlines in a constantly evolving, fast-paced environment

Ability to identify and communicate accounting/tax issues to management in a timely and concise manner

Highly organized with impeccable attention to detail and relentless follow-through
-
Proactive and able to work autonomously when necessary

Curious, enthusiastic, and not afraid to ask questions
Bonus Points For

Experience with Avalara, NetSuite and / or Airbase
-
Tech industry and / or high-growth startup experience

Experience in a tax-related role at a public accounting firm

CPA or CPA candidate
