About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Systems & Security Engineer to help strengthen and secure our IT environment while keeping our systems reliable, scalable, and running smoothly.

This is a hands-on senior technical role that blends systems engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and incident response. You’ll play an important part in how we design and protect our technology environment, from servers and networks to cloud platforms and security tools.

If you enjoy solving complex technical problems, improving security, and taking ownership of infrastructure projects from start to finish, this could be a great fit.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design and secure our infrastructure. Build, implement, and manage secure and scalable on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments with a focus on security, availability, performance, and resiliency.

  • Strengthen our security program. Help design, implement, and continuously improve security controls, tools, and processes to reduce risk and support industry best practices.

  • Support security incidents and response. Partner with our third-party Security Operations Center (SOC) and serve as a key technical escalation point for incident investigation, root cause analysis, remediation, and post-incident reviews.

  • Own infrastructure and security documentation. Develop and maintain clear system and security documentation that supports organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Improve monitoring and reliability. Monitor system, network, and security activity, identify trends, and make improvements that strengthen performance, availability, threat detection, and overall efficiency.

  • Manage critical IT infrastructure. Install, administer, troubleshoot, and support enterprise servers, networks, operating systems, virtualization platforms, firewalls, routers, switches, endpoint protection, and monitoring tools.

  • Identify and reduce risk. Find and prioritize vulnerabilities, security gaps, and infrastructure risks, then partner with the appropriate teams to drive remediation.

  • Lead technical projects. Take ownership of infrastructure and security initiatives such as system upgrades, migrations, new platform implementations, automation, and security tool deployments.

  • Partner across the organization. Work closely with IT leadership, technical teams, and outside vendors to make sure infrastructure and security decisions align with business needs.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical knowledge along with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • 3–5 years of experience in network and systems administration.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience supporting cloud or hybrid infrastructure, including platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols.
  • Familiarity with Storage Area Networks (SANs).
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection, and network security practices.
  • Strong knowledge of security architecture, system hardening, incident response, vulnerability management, risk assessment, and mitigation planning.
  • An understanding of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) principles.
  • The ability to troubleshoot complex problems, prioritize issues, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, leadership, and external vendors.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

You’ll likely thrive here if you’re someone who:

  • Likes digging into challenging technical problems.
  • Thinks about security from the beginning rather than as an afterthought.
  • Can balance security, reliability, and the practical needs of the business.
  • Takes ownership and follows issues through to resolution.
  • Enjoys improving systems instead of simply maintaining the status quo.
  • Can work independently while still being a collaborative member of the larger IT team.

Skills Required

  • 3–5 years of experience in network and systems administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience supporting cloud or hybrid infrastructure, including Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols
