The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) has openings for Senior Systems Engineer. In this role you will provide support to DLMP leadership with business strategy and planning, business process engineering, or business transformation. Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing assistance in continuous improvement methods, which includes Lean, Six Sigma, and system/industrial engineering disciplines
- Identifying opportunities and helping design, develop and implement expanded or redesigned services/strategies
- Facilitating the introduction of new tools and/or methods to improve existing operations
- Leading and managing basic to moderate projects at the work unit or division level independently
- Training and mentoring teams on improvement tools
- Devising and reviewing content and methods to teach continuous improvement concepts, and provide on-demand workshops, e-learning, webinars, and presentations
- Transferring knowledge and facilitating staff development in proficient application of process improvement techniques
- Providing mentorship to DLMP staff
Publishing posters, white papers, articles in business journals and/or presenting at conferences
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

QualificationsTo be considered for the Senior Systems Engineer position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Master's degree in engineering, management, business administration, healthcare, computer science, or a similar field and 4 years of experience that includes several of the following areas of expertise: consulting/advising, continuous improvement, operations analysis, workflow analysis, staffing analysis, process engineering, systems analysis, leadership & facilitation, team building, and project management.
- In lieu of a master's degree, you may be considered if you have a bachelor's degree in the same fields listed above with at least 6 years of experience in the above areas of expertise.
Additional Qualifications
- A master's degree in industrial engineering is preferred.
- This position requires you to live within a reasonable driving distance to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
- You will be required to obtain Mayo Quality Silver Fellow certification within 1 year of your start date.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; effectively communicate as a liaison among DLMP operations.
- Expertise, knowledge, and experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, other continuous improvement tools, and change management in a dynamic environment
- Ability to lead projects independently
- Successful collaboration with physicians, consultants, administrators, and/or allied health staff
- Excellent time management, and facilitation skills
- Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio are required
