Purpose of the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. You’ll play a critical role in building and maintaining the automation frameworks that underpin our infrastructure operations. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies at scale, supporting our global trading and research operations.
Specific responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions, configuration management, infrastructure orchestration platforms, and monitoring systems that enable our engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable services. You’ll work closely with the entirety of our infrastructure organization, development teams, and other platform teams to drive automation initiatives that help us further provide platforms that drive our delivery.
Key Competencies
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or Salt
- Proven experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
- Strong understanding of observability and monitoring practices, including experience with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to work confidently across both Unix based systems (Ubuntu, RHEL, or similar distributions) and Windows environments.
- Experience with scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Powershell, Bash, or Go.
- Understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with tools like Jenkins or Github Actions.
- Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, security best practices, and infrastructure architecture patterns.
Desirable
- Experience with container technologies beyond Kubernetes (Docker, containerd, etc)
- Knowledge of GitOps workflows and tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
- Experience with security and secrets management practices using Vault.
- Understanding of storage systems and how they integrate with modern systems architecture.
- Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Self-organised with the ability to prioritise and effectively manage time across multiple projects.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in technical communities is a plus.
