We're looking for a hands-on Senior IT Architect Engineer to join our team - someone who's equally comfortable resolving complex issues, collaborating on architecture-driven initiatives, and challenging the status quo to drive best practices. This role blends day-to-day support with project delivery and will suit someone with a strong infrastructure background and the ability to deliver complex architected solutions.
We value engineers who are proactive, adaptable, and capable of working with minimal supervision - the kind of person who can take a problem, own it, and see it through. You should be able to work independently, communicate clearly, and just get things done. At the same time, you'll need to be just as comfortable working closely with others - whether mentoring more junior engineers or learning something new yourself. A balanced attitude and team-first mindset are key.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide Tier 2/3 support to core infrastructure and operations teams (Windows, VMware, Linux)
- Own technical issues end-to-end - from incident to resolution
- Deliver solutions in line with architecture decisions, designs, and project requirements
- Review and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure setups
- Support backup, recovery, and DR operations
- Collaborate with the architecture team on rollout of new infrastructure and cloud platform
- Document systems, processes, and configurations for team use and continuity
- Stay hands-on with emerging technologies and bring improvements into play where it makes sense
- Take initiative on tasks without waiting for direction, while knowing when to engage peers for input
- Support a culture of mentorship and shared learning - act as both mentor and student when needed
Technology You'll Work With
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere, ESXi clustering, vCenter, NSX, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure
- Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu or similar)
- Identity & Access: Active Directory, Okta, Azure AD
- Backup & Recovery: Veeam - configuration, policy design, restore and DR
- Scripting & Automation: PowerShell, Bash, Puppet
- A broad array of business-critical platforms and tools requiring design, deployment, and ongoing support
What You Need
- 5+ years of proven experience in IT infrastructure engineering
- Strong hands-on expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi clustering, vCenter, NSX, and Linux
- Solid troubleshooting skills across Windows, Linux, VMware, and automated environments
- Good working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy - enough to integrate, troubleshoot, and support solutions in line with broader architecture
- Proficient with Veeam - from backup policy design to recovery and DR planning
- Strong scripting/automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Puppet
- Detail-oriented with a clear, consistent documentation style
- Self-motivated and able to work independently - someone who gets things done without waiting to be asked
- Comfortable working from detailed architectural designs and following through with high-quality delivery
- Effective as both a mentor and a learner - able to support others and open to new ideas
