INTRO TO POSITION
NPR is seeking a Systems Engineer for its IT Infrastructure team who will contribute to the design, administration, and support of all existing and new server infrastructure
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all systems supported by the Infrastructure team by performing enterprise storage management, server builds, patch management, virtual machine management, virus scanning, etc.
- Recommend and implement changes to the overall systems through following an institutionalized change management process
- Evaluate cloud strategy and system architecture, along with maintaining all cloud infrastructure
- Act as an escalation point on critical issues for various internal technology groups
- Create and maintain metrics to measure response time and availability for systems
- Respond to critical system issues on a 24x7 basis
- Keep management up to date about any issues and escalating in a timely manner
- Document processes, procedures, instructions, and training materials for users and IT colleagues
- Work closely with the Security Engineers to ensure that systems are secure and in compliance with all policies
- Analyze and document business and IT process workflow, and make recommendations where improvements can be made
- Pursue expansion of knowledge of and skills in current and emerging information technology

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5 years of experience supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and administering systems in a Datacenter Environment
- At least 2 years of experience for planning, design, development, management, maintenance and support of infrastructure on Cloud (AWS or Azure)
- Working knowledge of Windows Servers (2016+) is required
- Experience in Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, IIS, SQL, and DFS
- Experience with networking technologies such as DHCP, DNS, IP address management
- Experience supporting Azure AD, Office 365, and Microsoft tools
- Experience configuring and supporting VMWare ESXI or Microsoft Hyper-V
- Experience configuring and supporting Storage Area Networks
- Working knowledge of Cisco UCS and Fabric Interconnects
- Basic knowledge of Citrix load balancing technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate in high pressure environment and successfully handle multiple projects at the same time
- Experience creating detailed systems documentation and flow charts
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
- Ability to participate in a 2 week onsite rotation every few months.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of 2 Factor Authentication Application preferably Okta
- Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Suite, including SCCM, SCOM, etc
- Knowledge of Linux
- Knowledge of Configuration Management Tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
- Knowledge of Scripting with Python, Powershell, and Javascript
- Knowledge of Enterprise Storage Systems (Preferably Dell Unity and Cloud storage)
- Knowledge of Enterprise Backup and Recovery Tools like Commvault, Cloud backup
- Knowledge of Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
- Relevant industry certifications related to VMWare, Microsoft, and AWS
WORK LOCATION
- Hybrid Permitted: This is a hybrid permitted role. Some aspects of this role include duties that are better performed at an NPR facility. The employee will be required to be onsite at the Washington, DC office at least 10 days a year. The employee must also reside in an NPR supported location based on the number of onsite days they choose.

- This is a full time, exempt position.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: The U.S. based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $125,000 - 138,000 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
