Sr. Systems Engineer
Location: EVP EyeCare – remote/hybrid based in Dallas or Denver
Technology at EVP EyeCare is a strategic business partner, directly shaping patient care, operational efficiency, cybersecurity, and the organization's future.
We're a lean, highly collaborative team where everyone has a voice — and where your ideas actually go somewhere. We value people who learn quickly, solve hard problems, take ownership, and improve the patient journey. Success here is measured by impact, not ticket volume. If you enjoy building better systems than the ones you inherited, you'll fit in well here.
Teammates who thrive at EVP typically:
- Take initiative and own outcomes.
- Learn new technologies quickly.
- Embrace AI and automation.
- Approach problems like engineers, not operators.
- Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams.
- Stay composed during critical incidents.
- Enjoy solving complex problems.
- Continuously look for better ways to work.
- Treat security, reliability, and customer experience as equally important.
- Ask thoughtful questions and lead when needed.
We value curiosity, accountability, integrity, and teamwork over ego. This role goes beyond passwords and help desk tickets: you'll design solutions, build infrastructure, automate work, strengthen cybersecurity, influence technology decisions, and leave systems better than you found them — because at EVP, how we work matters as much as what we deliver.
Who we are…
EVP EyeCare is a privately held, full-service medical ophthalmology provider and portfolio company of The Cortec Group. Based in Denver, Colorado, EVP EyeCare owns and operates a super-regional network of eyecare practices and surgical centers, offering comprehensive eye care, LASIK, cataract surgery, and vision correction services under premier brands throughout Colorado, Texas, and Arizona. With over 20 years of experience, our board-certified doctors and dedicated team are committed to delivering the highest-quality care, guided by the belief that an outstanding patient experience starts with building an outstanding employee experience.
What we do…
Our mission is simple: to improve people's lives through better vision and outstanding patient experiences. Every system you build and every problem you solve plays a direct role in making that happen.
What you will do…
- Build, deploy, and support our server infrastructure — primarily Windows Server running on clustered VMware and Hyper-V environments with enterprise storage — to keep our teams running smoothly every day.
- Maintain and support our network infrastructure, including Cisco managed switches and WatchGuard firewalls, ensuring reliable connectivity across all locations.
- Serve as a trusted technical resource for our teams, providing thoughtful advice and timely problem resolution when issues arise.
- Create and maintain clear, accurate documentation of our IT resources and systems so knowledge is shared and readily available.
- Support computer and communication resources both on-site and remotely, helping our teams stay connected wherever they're working.
- Collaborate with fellow engineers and IT staff to share ticket resolution responsibilities and ensure consistent, high-quality support.
- Uphold HIPAA security procedures to protect patient and organizational information at every touchpoint.
- Provide on-site and remote end-user support as needed. With approximately 20 offices across 3 states, our EVP Technical Support Team plays a vital role in supporting our people locally and remotely. This role requires the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, work independently when needed, and bring strong customer service skills to every interaction.
What we require…
- 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience with servers, storage, PCs, laptops, network hardware, and operating systems is required. Our environment uses many of the technologies below.
