Senior Systems Engineer (SCOM)
Job Description
We are looking for Systems Engineer who will be responsible for providing specialist, high-level technical advice and support for the installing, testing, tuning, optimising, diagnosing problems, repairing, upgrading and maintaining both externally and internally supplied hardware and system software such as operation systems, data management products, office automation products, embedded systems, and other utility enabling software and related equipment. Responsible for high-level troubleshooting and system security, and ensures repairs are undertaken in accordance with organisational policy and standards. May maintain an adequate spare parts inventory of systems, subsystems and component parts used in repair work. Prepares progress reports for all work performed.
The job purpose of a Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) Senior Systems Engineer is to ensure the effective deployment, configuration, monitoring, and management of SCOM within our and our clients environments. The engineer will play a critical role in maintaining system health, optimizing performance, and ensuring the availability and reliability of the SCOM services. As a Senior Systems Engineer you are a subject matter expert and provide technical leadership to your peers.
Key responsibilities:
SCOM Deployment and Maintenance:

Install, configure, and upgrade SCOM components and management packs.

Customize monitoring solutions to meet business and technical requirements.
Monitoring and Alert Management:
-
Develop and configure alerts, dashboards, and reports tailored to organizational needs.

Analyze and respond to alerts to ensure quick resolution of IT incidents.
Troubleshooting and Support:
-
Act as the escalation point for complex SCOM-related issues.
-
Collaborate with application, network, and systems teams to troubleshoot problems.
Automation and Scripting:
-
Create PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive monitoring and maintenance tasks.
Documentation and Training:
-
Prepare detailed documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Provide guidance and training to junior team members and end-users.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with IT operations, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure monitoring aligns with service level agreements (SLAs) and business goals.

Years of experience:
-
More than 5 years Technical Support with an emphasis on MS SCOM and Server Operating Systems, Networking and Applications.
-
Demonstrated solid Technical skills, knowledge and experience in the maintenance, support and troubleshooting of Infrastructure, Windows Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, Group Policy and supporting services and Hardware.
Manage, Monitor and Automation Services
-
Of which at least 5 years’ experience in the support and administration of Enterprise Platform where at least 1 year has been in a senior support position. (e.g., SCOM, SCCM, SCOrch, Azure Monitor)
