The Opportunity
As a Sr. Systems Engineer (Product Definition), responsibilities include new product definition, modelling and design of system level architecture and supporting customers with application-level design and integration of Allegro’s next generation Motor driver IC products. The person would be responsible for maintaining a creative backlog, leading, and growing the strong Motor driver product portfolio with cutting-edge technology, differentiating value adders that address customer needs effectively. Allegro Microsystems, LLC is a leader in Motor driver ICs for the automotive industry that require a high-level of functional safety and robustness as well as industrial applications. The job role has a high level of visibility within the organization and presents great opportunities to work with cross-functional teams, demonstrate leadership qualities and offers a strong growth potential. As part of the product development team, working closely with customers, marketing/sales personnel, business development teams and IC design and development teams internally is essential.
What You'll Do
Work externally facing to build relations with customers and develop strong product road map and strategic creative backlog of products.
Join forces with marketing to build business cases and set priorities for product development for the Motor driver product line to scale the business.
Work with customers and internal development team to draft an initial product requirement (datasheet) by understanding the customer application requirements (electrical, mechanical, thermal) and defining functional safety goals as needed.
Team up with Allegro technologists and development teams to understand and integrate new technologies to advance the performance of Allegro’s Motor Driver ICs.
Lead the feasibility study for new products in conjunction with IC design engineers and marketing and present the results to management to facilitate decision making.
Provide technical guidance and support to the development team during the design and evaluation of the new product before market release, including:
Propose the test strategy, work with the design engineering, test engineering and product validation engineering groups to ensure product specification compliance.
Work with the packaging engineering team to ensure that the product meets Automotive standards, thermal budgets, and board level reliability requirements.
Work with the sales organization to generate collateral to promote products and help customers integrate Allegro’s Motor Driver ICs into applications.
To be a “Motors expert”, and driver definition and design from conceptual stages to technical and application support and integration of new products.
What You Will Bring
Requires a BSEE or MSEE or equivalent with 4+ years of experience.
A solid understanding of analog and digital electronics, Motors, magnetics, and package thermal properties is essential in this position.
Experience with automotive functional safety, automotive product qualification, high power or high voltage design is desirable.
Knowledge of MATLAB / Simulink or other modeling tools is preferred.
Good interpersonal and communication skills in a customer-faced role and as a technical leader of cross functional teams is a must.
Knowledge and background in the semiconductor industry, including manufacturing and packaging, is desired.
Strong mentorship capability is desired with prior experience in managing a systems or applications team.
