The Senior Systems Administrator reports to the Supervisor, IT Technical Services and is responsible for the administration, implementation, support and management of the IT Linux and infrastructure systems; serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. This position will manage and support the Linux, OpenShift, Storage, Backup, and Recovery systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manage the day-to-day operations of servers and systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.
Configure, maintain, and support the Linux systems
Configure, maintain, and support the OpenShift systems
Configure, maintain, and support the Enterprise backup and recovery systems.
Monitor and resolve backup related issues, including providing reporting on health of backup platforms.
Create and maintain documentation on backup and recovery processes, policies and procedures.
Perform file recovery tests and annual disaster recovery site tests.
Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of critical system resources.
Participate in planning and implementation of projects for system operations and systems administration.
Plan, organize, and document complex system design activities and configure systems to be consistent with policies/procedures.
Interface with customers, peers, and managers to evaluate and understand business needs.
Continually access the systems against potential threats and vulnerabilities using industry security compliance standards. Ensure that vulnerabilities are mitigated in a timely fashion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related discipline. Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years relevant Systems Administrator experience including complex systems design, programming, and systems software and support. Must have experience in the design, planning, and implementation of reliable enterprise level systems.
