The Opportunity
The E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system is the cornerstone of Australia's National Air Defence Capability. It integrates advanced airborne surveillance, communications, and battle management technologies to deliver world-class early warning and control capabilities for our Australian defence customers.
We are seeking an experienced Senior System Safety Engineer to provide engineering, sustainment and capability upgrade support for the E-7A Wedgetail. This role will place you BDA's E-7 programs Airborne Mission Segment Sustainment team, supporting the ongoing sustainment support for the fleet.

This role is based in RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW.
As a Senior System Safety Engineer within BDA, you will support the team with Safety related tasking pertaining to Continuing Airworthiness Management (Part M) and 21J engineering activities including but not limited to:
  • Develop, review and manage hazard analysis and risk assessments.
  • Perform hazard log management.
  • Host system safety working groups.
  • Develop, review and manage Safety Case Reports, and System Safety Review Boards
  • Undertake engineering investigations.
  • Support and engage in retained risk reviews, and emerging safety issues investigations.
  • Liaise with Defence stakeholders to coordinate the delivery of services and artefacts to support the E-7A Safety management systemWork as a senior member within the team, provide technical leadership and mentorship for the system safety team.
  • Work towards gaining Engineering Delegations.

To be considered for the role you will:
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the system safety engineering processes.
  • Hold Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust).

Highly desirable
  • Possess experience with software applications such as 3DX, JIRA and Confluence
  • Be familiar with the WHS Act 2011
