Role: Senior Software Engineering Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineering Manager passionate about delivering exceptional software experiences and leading high-performing teams. As a key leader on the Digital Banking team, this individual will guide the development of features that enhance our clients’ customer experience, ensuring high-quality execution from concept through production. They will work closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive, impactful solutions that align with business goals.
The Engineering Manager will lead by example—simplifying complex problems into scalable architectures, championing engineering best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. In a fast-paced Agile environment, they will balance hands-on technical contributions with strategic leadership, empowering engineers to consistently deliver production-ready code. Ideal candidates are collaborative, solutions-focused, and committed to team development, mentoring others while driving technical excellence and operational efficiency.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Define product technology strategy and vision
- Manage and prioritize technology roadmap and initiatives
- Own engineering key results and performance metrics
Product Strategy, Vision, and Planning
- Partner with Product Managers to develop a technology-aligned product vision and roadmap
- Participate in PI planning and agile ceremonies to provide technical insights for prioritization and delivery
- Identify technology enhancements, product gaps, and feature ideas to inform the roadmap
- Recommend strategic technology investments aligned with business goals and user needs
- Support product teams in translating complex business needs into user stories and technical solutions
Product Design and Development
- Oversee design, development, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions across product teams
- Establish and enforce technical standards, guidelines, and best practices for consistency and quality
- Collaborate with Architects and Engineering Managers to manage system dependencies and risks
- Participate in agile development events such as demos and reviews
- Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams with a focus on career development and innovation
- Foster an environment where engineers are encouraged to experiment and contribute new technical ideas
- Provide constructive feedback through code reviews to enhance technical value and quality
Performance Measurement and Optimization
- Monitor delivery and quality metrics at the product level to identify trends and drive technical improvements
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in technology roles, with increasing responsibilities in engineering management
- Strong understanding of multi-tenant, cloud-based, high-transaction systems
- Experience in full-stack enterprise Java development, including HTML5, JavaScript, Angular/React
- Expertise in Scaled Agile (e.g., SAFe), Scrum, Lean quality, and test automation methodologies
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java), cloud technologies, and tools such as Jira
- Strategic technical thinker capable of developing and communicating a product-aligned technology roadmap
- Proven leadership skills to develop and manage cross-functional engineering teams
- Effective collaboration skills to support teams in problem-solving and decision-making
- Experience working with RTEs, STEs, and stakeholders to align and execute strategic themes
- Strong knowledge of continuous delivery and agile at scale practices
- Ability to serve as an Agile coach and advisor, promoting a self-directed and accountable team culture
- Balances technical oversight with empowering teams to innovate and own their solutions
