Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee supplier quality assurance activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all supplied materials and components meet our organization’s quality standards, while fostering strong relationships with suppliers.

 

What You'll Do...

  • Develop and implement supplier quality standards and processes specific to aerospace propulsion systems
  • Evaluate and approve suppliers through on-site audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as AS9100 and Nadcap
  • Establish quality agreements with suppliers to define expectations, requirements, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitor supplier performance using metrics such as defect rates, on time delivery, and adherence to specifications
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes to resolve supplier-related quality issues
  • Work with suppliers to implement preventive measures and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee the qualification of propulsion components, including machined parts, raw materials and outside service providers
  • Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process by ensuring supplier readiness and validating first article inspections (FAI)
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure supplier capabilities align with design and manufacturing requirements
  • Ensure supplier compliance with aerospace propulsion standards, such as AS9102 for FAI, Nadcap for special processes, and other relevant specifications
  • Maintain thorough documentation of supplier audits, quality reports, and corrective action plans
  • Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory inspections
  • Work closely with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve supplier-related challenges
  • Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers to enhance their processes and capabilities

You have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering (or a related field)
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace or propulsion industry
  • Strong understanding of aerospace propulsion systems and components
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100, Nadcap, and AS9102
  • Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies, including root cause analysis, FMEA, and SPC
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issues security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice to have...

  • Experience with special processes such as heat treatment, welding, and coatings
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt)
  • Proficiency in quality management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Minitab)

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 base salary.  Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
