The North American Purchasing team is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for ensuring supplier compliance with Isuzu Quality standards and APQP requirements through audits, process reviews, and ongoing performance monitoring. The position supports supplier sourcing activities, leads quality improvement initiatives, and works cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Vehicle Quality, and logistics-related teams to resolve product concerns, support delivery activities, and help ensure parts are available at the assembly plant on time. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities while building effective relationships with internal and external partners.


The North American Purchasing team is looking for a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to be part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field; equivalent directly related experience may be considered
  • Minimum 5+ years of supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or automotive quality engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA
  • Proven experience working with suppliers to drive quality improvements and resolve complex quality concerns
  • Expert-level root cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities utilizing methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa (Fishbone)
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and evaluating compliance to quality management systems, including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with suppliers, executive leadership, manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and cross-functional teams
  • Strong customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-motivated leader capable of working independently while mentoring and supporting team members
  • Proficient in data analysis, quality reporting, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight stays, to support supplier assessments, audits, and quality investigations

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for supplier quality: ensuring all parts are compliant to Engineering, Packaging, and Quality specifications while meeting cost targets. Ensures supplier quality actions conform to Isuzu Quality and APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning) requirements through supplier audits and visits.  

% of time spent     on each activity PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES       30% 1 Reviews and coordinates supplier control plans and processes including Production Part Approval Process. Coordinates and completes supplier process audits.       20% 2 Assists in supplier sourcing activities: issuing, tracking, and reviewing Request for Quotation packages, monitoring and evaluating supplier quality systems, and ensuring supplier on-time delivery.       15% 3 Assists Vehicle Quality Engineer with Product Concern Reports (PCR) to suppliers for defective parts.       15% 4 Coordinates continuous improvement activities relating to supplier part quality and cost.       10% 5 Assists with coordinating the flow of documents and information regarding engineering changes, quality requirements, etc. between suppliers and department personnel within Isuzu and IMSA.       5% 6 Assists with updates to the ISZA Supplier Quality Manual and Website.       5% 7 Participates in internal cross-training opportunites.         8 Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

  • Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • Minimum five years experience in supplier quality or related field, preferably in automotive industry

KNOWLEDGE

  • APQP process/procedures
  • Quality Control techniques
  • Blueprints and engineering drawing
  • Working knowledge of SPC functions
  • Root Cause analysis techniques; Red X, Six Sigma or other

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient PC skills in Windows applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and countermeasure with closed loop controls.
  • Ability to prepare and conduct training and business and technical meetings/presentations
  • Ability to maintain accurate data files
  • Effective planning and scheduling techniques

PHYSICAL STANDARDS

The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. Occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less. 

Position requires travel with overnight stays.
