Job Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering criteria and guidelines for the design teams and suggest creative engineering solutions.
- Translate 2-D and 3-D data and criteria for easy use by designers and present 2-D and 3-D concepts verbally, visually, and in written form.
- Understand and educate designers on all safety related design issues, follow design directives, and provide input into creative process.
- Conduct engineering, materials and process related research and prepare presentations to communicate clay model feasibility.
- Analyze design, engineering and marketing information and understand/apply knowledge of industrial materials, methods, and technologies.
- Work within program guidelines as a project team member, perform computer-aided design with CATIA, Siemens NX and any other necessary software, and provide advanced packaging solutions for new concepts.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Provide technical assistance for both Exterior and Interior design, as well as UX design.
- Program Management and oversight of timing of all projects in coordination.
- Basic IT Support in coordination with IT department.
- Take part in managing the projects and coordinate with the partners in the US and in Germany.
- Purchasing of required material related to the engineer for each project. Keep inventory of material in studio.
- Organization of the transport of physical models.
- This includes organizing scheduling, tracking and overall logistics related to the transport of physical models.
- Data management and archiving.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Ability to understand designer’s ideas and translate them into concepts, packages or alternative engineering solutions
- Skilled in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge of Catia, Siemens NX and Alias software
- Ability to analyze criteria and engineering drawings
- Outstanding knowledge and expertise of automotive architecture and systems
- Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong team player
- Experience working in a major OEM creative Design Studio as a packaging Engineer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of CAD and CAx computer systems, 5-axis milling machines, and software.
- Previous experience working on tightly scheduled vehicle programs and program management.
- German Language skills a plus.
- Ability to travel if necessary.
- Project managing all projects in aspect of timing, deliverables.
