Job Description:

The Retail Advisor & Solutions (RA&S) Strategy team supports RA&S in achieving its strategic priorities and goals by developing value-add strategic initiatives that define/optimize RA&S’ business capabilities. The RA&S Strategy team also has a role to enable RA&S’ leaders to make better decisions by providing them with relevant internal and external information, insights, and trends.

Reporting to the Director, Retail Advice & Solutions Strategy, and working in a collaborative environment, the Senior Strategy Consultant supports the development of various strategic initiatives.  They also play an active role in developing and maintaining a current view of relevant internal and external information to inform leaders and initiatives. The successful candidate will be impact-oriented with an owner’s mindset, able to work effectively with complex data and analysis, solve complex business problems within larger projects, present results in an intuitive and transparent way to a variety of stakeholders, and collaborates effectively with partners.

What will you do?

  • Own and drive strategy project work streams, including decomposing problem statements into a set of hypotheses, defining a research and analysis plan, sourcing data and information from internal and external sources, and performing both quantitative (e.g., financial analysis, market sizing) and qualitative (e.g., competitor benchmarking) analyses to validate or reject hypotheses
  • Develop and perform quantitative and qualitative analysis independently and accurately with guidance
  • Extract relevant insights from research and analysis by deducing implications and suggesting recommendations, synthesizing findings in a useful output format
  • Structure solution-oriented approaches to solving problems with guidance, striving to find an answer and knowing when to ask for help and course correct
  • Create clear, organized slides and other formal communications that draw out key messages and supporting data
  • Effectively prepare for, deliver/execute on, and follow up on presentations, discussions, small working sessions with partners on well-defined topics
  • Maintain high awareness currency in a wide range of relevant topics, including trends, market developments, and competitive intelligence
  • Take full ownership of work, effectively, efficiently, and reliably executing tasks based on key milestones, seeking guidance where required, and keeping manager and team informed
  • Proactively seek feedback, work toward personal development objectives

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience working with data and business modelling, including Excel models and analysis; experience working with SQL to process and analyze large volume of data would be an asset
  • Experience analyzing and solving complex business problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in conducting in-depth secondary research, including collection and synthesis
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Resourceful in learning and ramping up content knowledge in new domains rapidly
  • An attitude to learn, approach problems head on, to be willing to roll your sleeves up to find solutions
  • A university degree in a relevant field such as business or related disciplines, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2-5 years relevant business experience

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
