As a Senior Stakeholder Manager within our Major Projects at Fulton Hogan, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of implementing communications and stakeholder management for complex construction projects. In addition to being the community’s first point of call for the project you’ll also be a key part of contributing to long‑term relationship development and management with communities, businesses, iwi, councils and other key partners.

You won’t just implement plans – you’ll set the strategy, lift best practice, and lead to deliver consistent, high‑quality business outcomes that reflect Fulton Hogan’s REAL values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and lead stakeholder strategy and delivery on large infrastructure projects.

  • Design and deliver communication, engagement and consultation to mitigate community and reputational risk for the project.

  • Be the face of the project acting as the first point of call for stakeholders engaging with the project, including addressing complex complaints.

  • Develop as well as provide oversight and quality assurance for public facing communications and project level engagement plans ensuring alignment with project, brand and client requirements.

  • Liaise with project delivery teams understanding project delivery and provide input in stakeholder requirements & considerations.

  • Provide advice to senior leaders on complex stakeholder issues

  • Coach project and site leaders on best practice engagement and communication.

  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (e.g. councils, iwi, business partners, community leaders) and provide leadership on engaging diverse communities.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • 10+ years in stakeholder, community, or engagement roles within major construction, infrastructure, or similarly complex environments.

  • Proven experience leading teams or portfolios, coaching team members, and lifting capability and performance.

  • A track record working on major projects, with demonstrated experience managing high‑risk or high‑profile stakeholder issues.

  • Relevant qualification in communication, marketing, engagement, or a related discipline.

  • Strong advisory skills providing clear, strategic advice to senior leaders.

  • Statutory and legal understanding – including the Privacy Act 2020 and obligations relevant to public‑facing infrastructure projects.

  • Expert written and verbal communication, confident across both traditional and digital channels.

  • Competent in use of the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with engagement, CRM, or stakeholder databases is beneficial.

  • Full driver’s licence.
