Vocera, now part of Stryker, is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Software Engineer with 10–14 years of software development experience to architect, design, and develop scalable cloud-native applications and platform services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Confluent Kafka, and AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure. This individual will drive architecture, influence technical strategy, mentor engineers, and lead the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing enterprise solutions. What you will do:
Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable cloud-native applications and platform services.
Design and develop distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven solutions using Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Confluent Kafka.
Apply advanced software engineering principles, architecture patterns, and design best practices to solve complex technical problems.
Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making across teams.
Design secure, resilient, and high-performing backend services and enterprise APIs.
Evaluate, recommend, and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and cloud capabilities to improve engineering outcomes.
Lead technical investigations, proof of concepts, and platform modernization initiatives.
Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
Produce and review technical artifacts including architecture, design, implementation, and operational documentation.
General Responsibilities
Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Architecture, DevOps, Quality, and Program Management teams to deliver high-quality software.
Lead complex engineering initiatives from design through production deployment.
Drive engineering best practices, software quality, security, automation, and operational excellence.
Mentor and develop engineers while fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Lead architecture reviews and code reviews while promoting engineering standards and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering/ Computer Science or related discipline & 10 + years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):
Experience designing and building highly available, cloud-native SaaS or enterprise platforms.
Experience with platform engineering, multi-tenant architectures, and enterprise integration patterns.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and modern CI/CD practices.
Exposure to AI-assisted software development, developer productivity tools, or GenAI technologies is an added advantage.
Experience in Healthcare or other regulated industries is preferred.
