The Role
Zoox is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to spearhead the development of its metrics platform, which is crucial for developing and validating the autonomy and operational systems of our robotaxi service. The Senior Staff Engineer will be responsible for defining and guiding the architectural evolution aimed at unifying and optimizing the experience of developing and maintaining metrics throughout the organization. This role involves close collaboration with numerous teams across the company to facilitate and expand their work on essential metrics, encompassing autonomy safety, capability, comfort, fleet operational efficiency, and more.
In this role, you will:
- Design and implement highly scalable and reliable systems to enable accurate and efficient metrics development and maintenance.
- Develop a technical strategy and roadmap with clear goals, outcomes, and timelines to guide technical investments across all teams contributing to the metrics platform.
- Lead efforts to optimize systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Ensure project execution and delivery.
- Influence and coach a team of engineers, promoting best practices.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 8+ years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Ray.
- Experience with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
- Experience with networking, storage, and database technologies.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java/Kotlin, Python, or C/C++.
Bonus Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
- Expertise in workflow orchestration tools such as Ray.
- Expertise in container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
- Expertise in networking, storage, and database technologies.
- Experience in the autonomous vehicle industry.
- Experience with data engineering.
