What we are looking for
We are seeking an experienced, visionary Sr. Staff Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in Enterprise Systems and Engineering. In this high-impact strategic leadership role, you will define and execute the end-to-end architecture strategy across Aurora’s Enterprise IT ecosystem. You will be the primary technical authority bridging business strategy and IT execution, establishing formal Build vs. Buy decision frameworks, driving operational AI enablement, and leading complex enterprise engineering initiatives. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to executive leadership while partnering closely with engineering, infrastructure, security, and business applications teams to architect scalable and secure systems.
In this role you will
Define, maintain, and execute the enterprise-wide IT target-state architecture, technology roadmaps, and modernization strategy across business applications (ERP, CRM, HCM, Data Platforms, Middleware) and infrastructure.
Standardize integration patterns, API management, data flows, and security architectures to ensure frictionless interoperability across enterprise systems.
Provide architectural oversight and decision support for major cross-domain, strategic programs such as ERP implementation, domain onboarding, and future systems engineering initiatives.
Lead the architectural design and enablement strategy for incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) across enterprise workflows and internal IT systems.
Establish secure AI integration patterns, guardrails, data pipeline architectures, and governance frameworks (covering data privacy, and model scalability).
Evaluate enterprise AI tools, platform integrations, and automation agents to accelerate internal operational efficiency and productivity.
Establish and govern the enterprise Build vs. Buy framework, providing rigorous Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), business alignment, scalability, risk, and vendor viability analyses.
Conduct architectural risk assessments and technical due diligence on third-party integrations and enterprise software investments.
Establish and chair/co-chair the Enterprise Architecture Review Board, setting architectural principles, standards, and compliance gates across Enterprise IT.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, software development, with at least 6+ years in an enterprise architecture role and enterprise architecture leadership within large-scale enterprise environments.
Proven experience in assessing organizational AI capabilities and leading enterprise-wide transformation.
Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise architecture strategies and frameworks.
Proficiency in data architecture, including data modeling, ETL processes, and database technologies.
Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, as the position requires working closely with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Strong leadership and change management skills to drive the adoption of new business processes and systems.
Desirable Qualifications
Certified knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
Management or technology consulting background, including big-4 or boutique firms.
AI/LLM architecture experience including RAG, agent design, knowledge graphs, and AI governance.
For roles based in Mountain View, CA and San Francisco, WA: The salary range for this position is $197,000 - $285,500 per year.
For roles based in Pittsburgh, PA: The salary range for this position is $178,000 - $257,500 per year.
Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
