THE POSITION
Our roster has an opening with your name on it

We are looking for a Senior Staff Data Engineer to play a foundational role in designing and building the next generation of our data solutions. This is a highly impactful individual contributor role that blends deep technical expertise with strategic influence. You will architect scalable data platforms and pipelines, develop reusable data products, and partner with cross-functional teams to solve complex, data-driven problems.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned data engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, thinks in terms of systems and patterns, and leads by example through code, design, and technical thought leadership.

If you’re excited by this challenge and want to work within a dynamic company, then we’d love to hear from you.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Collaborate closely with data science, analytics, product, and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Participates in part-time coding on critical data infrastructure initiatives, pipeline optimization, and platform proof-of-concepts
  • Efficient data pipeline patterns and anti-pattern avoidance
  • Experience teaching data engineering techniques such as efficient data pipeline patterns and anti-pattern avoidance (minimize data shuffling, avoiding full table scans, reduce network I/O, and eliminate unnecessary data copying between systems)
  • Guide engineers in right-sizing clusters, optimizing resource allocation, and implementing auto-scaling patterns to reduce costs
  • Guide engineers on advanced concepts, architectural decision-making, and technical growth

Innovation & Strategic Impact

  • Identify gaps and opportunities in the existing data platform and propose scalable improvements that drive business value
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and help the team evaluate and adopt the right tools for our evolving needs
  • Advocate for customer-centric design in data solutions, ensuring we’re solving the right problems with the right abstractions

Operational Excellence

  • Lead efforts in observability, monitoring, and reliability for our data pipelines and infrastructure
  • Contribute to initiatives that improve developer velocity, reduce technical debt, and ensure platform sustainability
  • Collaborate with the data governance team to uphold standards around data security, privacy, and compliance

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of influencing stakeholders across engineering, product, and analytics teams

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building data platforms in a product-driven or DTC organization
