JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT THE ROLE

FOX News Media is seeking a Senior Staff Broadcast Network Engineer to join our Broadcast IP Infrastructure team in New York. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and support of high-performance, reliable, and scalable IP networks that enable FOX’s live broadcast and media production environments.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in media-over-IP workflows (SMPTE ST 2110, network synchronization (PTP), and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions. You will collaborate with broadcast engineering, IT, and operation teams to ensure reliable and scalable infrastructure for real-time media workflows, powering real-time video, audio, and data transport for live contents.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, deploy, and maintain IP-based broadcast networks supporting uncompressed media transport and real-time workflows.

  • Collaborate with the SDN and Infrastructure teams to develop deterministic, low-latency, and resilient network solutions for live production.

  • Evaluate and optimize current network architecture for scalability, performance, and timing accuracy.

  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex media and IP transport issues across multiple facilities.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to integrate new media networking and orchestration technologies.

  • Implement and manage network automation and configuration management tools, including Ansible and Arista CloudVision (Arista Validated Design).

  • Perform capacity planning, multicast management, and QoS optimization for real-time media applications.

  • Maintain system resilience and uptime through proactive monitoring, failover validation, and firmware lifecycle management.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration details, and change control records.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to operations staff.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing and supporting large-scale, mission-critical IP networks.

  • Strong understanding of broadcast and media transport over IP environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Arista switching platforms and modern data center network architectures.

  • Deep knowledge of multicast routing, QoS, and synchronization technologies (e.g., PTP).

  • Proficiency in automation and orchestration frameworks such as Ansible and Python.

  • Experience with spine-leaf architectures, SDN, and VXLAN/EVPN-based designs.

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience using tools such as Wireshark.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in live production environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and share technical expertise across teams.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience working in media, broadcast, or live production environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

  • Relevant industry certifications such as Arista ACE or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with network orchestration, PTP timing, and media-over-IP standards.

  • Understanding of network segmentation, security policies, and hybrid environments.

WHY JOIN US

At FOX News Media, you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining the IP infrastructure that powers our broadcast and digital platforms. You’ll have the opportunity to work with advanced SDN technologies, collaborate with talented teams across the organization, and contribute to delivering world-class content to millions of viewers every day.
