The Opportunity 

The Senior Staff Accountant, based in-person at Vitra’s Boston office, will act as a point of contact for any billing, accounting or reconciliation requirements. This individual will oversee complex general ledger activities, manage cost allocations, and ensure absolute compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate has direct experience with medical billing structures, insurance provider models, and healthcare auditing standards. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Prepare accurate consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system, and from department heads. 
  • Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information. 
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts. 
  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts. 
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes. 
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. 
  • Organizing and recording day-to-day financial transactions as needed. 
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. 
  • Verifying all transactions recorded and conducting frequent audits to ensure compliance.  
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. 
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Vitra reflecting our vision, mission, and values.

What We Are Looking For 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive corporate accounting experience 
  • Knowledge of financial reporting 
  • Working knowledge of GAAP principles 
  • Previous experience in home health care or other branch of health care preferred but not required 
  • Previous NetSuite experience preferred 
  • Previous experience in MS Office and Excel Required 

Physical and Environmental Demands: 

  • Works in a clean, well-lit environment with fluctuating temperatures in close proximity to others. 
  • Requires substantial periods of repetitive work utilizing a computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. 
  • Requires lifting and carrying equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds; require pushing and pulling equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds; require walking and standing; requires frequent sitting more than 75% of the workday; requires the ability to navigate stairs; requires visual acuity and manual dexterity to operate equipment.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Three to five years of progressive corporate accounting experience
  • Knowledge of financial reporting
  • Working knowledge of GAAP principles
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Previous experience in home health care or another healthcare branch
  • Previous NetSuite experience
