As a Senior Specialist - Technical Sales (Wire and Cable), you will be in a Technical Sales Support role, handling the commercial/technical decision-making process of the sales cycle with a focus on identifying/closing large projects and driving incremental specialized product growth at all levels. You will provide pre- and post-sales support and expertise in a specified product category to assist the Sales team in their sales efforts of technical products, systems and services. You will possess specialized product knowledge, deliver presentations and product demonstrations to customers and sales representatives and will have a continuing role in customer support to address customer questions or issues in the usage of the products.
Responsibilities:
- Support internal field/branch sales teams, representatives and management, to convince them of the desirability of technical products or services offered and to guide opportunity strategy and profitable deal structure.
- Provides technical services to internal sales teams (and customers as needed) relating to specified products.
- Makes sales contacts, research customer/project/opportunity needs and develops product and application information, demonstrating technology solutions to support wire & cable project execution.
- This position operates within inside technical sales (non-field based), providing pre- and post-sales support to internal teams and customers.
- Gathers, analyzes and shares technical information and solutions to internal and external customers.
- First line of pre/post technical sales support for sales teams.
- Expertise in specified technical products; acts as a domain expert internally and externally.
- Leads joint sales calls with customers and prospects.
- Assists account representatives in finding new sales opportunities by teaching, guiding, coaching and mentoring internal sales teams on wire & cable opportunity strategy, pricing/margin improvement, and end-to-end quoting/sourcing through order execution.
- Participates in ongoing training to maintain technical competency in product and complimentary product areas.
- Understands market conditions, competitive forces, and identify areas for growth.
- Understands industry trends and technical developments that effect target markets.
- Promotes value-add assigned products in competitive situations.
- Administers and implements marketing, promotion programs, and product launches from product businesses.
- Maintains excellent relationships with vendor product managers and other selling resources
Qualifications:
• High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering or Business preferred
• 3+ years Electrical industry experience as a manufacturer or distributor (wire & cable preferred)
• 5+ year Sales experience in related industry (wire & cable preferred)
• Strong computer skills and Excellent communication skills
