Senior Specialist, Product Experience Design (UX Designer / Researcher)
Overview
The Merchant Cloud UX team is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Product Experience Designer (L7) to help shape the next generation of merchant experiences within Mastercard's modernization strategy.
This role focuses on solving complex design challenges, operating autonomously across multiple product streams, and championing user centric design practices. As a senior individual contributor, you will work closely with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and Architecture to ensure the delivery of intuitive, cohesive, and customer first experiences across the Merchant Cloud ecosystem.
This position is ideal for an accomplished designer who brings deep craft expertise, thrives in complexity and elevates design outcomes.
Essential Qualifications & Experience• 5-7 years of overall career experience in UX/Product Design experience, ideally within enterprise, platform, or multi workflow environments.• Strong experience producing detailed flows, interaction patterns, and high fidelity prototypes for web based applications.• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional peers and influence decisions using clear design rationale.
Desired Experience• Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud; comfortable with tools like Jira and Confluence.• Familiarity with platform modernization, payments, or merchant workflows is a plus.
The Role
As a Senior Product Experience Designer (L7), you will:
Lead End to End Design for Complex Domains• Own design delivery across multiple product areas, from discovery to production ready assets.• Create advanced artefacts such as journey maps, interaction models, conceptual flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high fidelity UI designs.• Navigate complex enterprise workflows and translate them into simple, intuitive user experiences.
Champion Customer Centric Thinking• Advocate for user needs in discussions with product owners, engineers, and business stakeholders.• Challenge assumptions, drive clarity, and ensure the customer remains central to product decision making.
Collaborate Deeply With Cross Functional Teams• Partner with Product and Engineering stakeholders to define requirements, identify opportunities, and explore solutions.• Run and participate in design workshops, reviews, sprint activities, and collaborative problem solving sessions.• Communicate design intent clearly, ensuring shared understanding across teams.
Elevate Design Quality• Deliver consistent, high quality work in fast paced, multi stream environments.• Provide constructive critique and contribute to shaping a healthy design culture within the team.
Contribute to and Extend Design Systems• Apply and evolve design system components to support coherence across Merchant Cloud touchpoints.• Identify gaps and propose patterns, documentation, or enhancements to drive scalability and consistency.
Support User Research Activities• Translate research findings into actionable design improvements and experience recommendations.
