Senior Specialist: MES Technical Lead
Job Description
As an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Technical Lead, you will be responsible for specialised development of MES systems in a manufacturing environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including production teams, automation engineers, software developers, and other engineers to design, develop, and maintain MES systems that meet the requirements of the manufacturing process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the design and development of specialised components of MES systems in a manufacturing environment

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement

Develop and maintain MES software applications, databases, and interfaces

Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with MES system components, including hardware, software, and networks

Conduct testing and validation of MES system functionality and performance
-
Train production personnel on the use of the MES system
-
Provide technical support for the MES system and related software applications

Stay up to date with emerging MES technologies and best practices

Mentor and lead engineers in the development and implementation of MES systems

Develop and maintain documentation related to the MES system
-
Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers

Provide input and recommendations for MES system strategy and direction
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Educational Qualifications:
-
National Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering
Professional Qualifications:
-
TrakSYS Certified Engineer
-
TrakSYS Certified Solutions Architect
Years of Experience:
-
At least 15 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of successful MES system design and implementation
Other requirements:
-
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies
-
Experience with MES software development and implementation, including customizations and integrations with other systems.

Experience with SCADA systems

Familiarity with databases, SQL, and data analysis tools
