The Senior Specialist leads and supports EH&S communications initiatives that advance a zero-harm culture, environmental sustainability, risk management, and quality. The role partners with subject matter experts across the company to plan and deliver short- and long-term communications programs aligned with EH&S business goals, customer excellence, and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include developing and rolling out communications deliverables, supporting KPIs, contributing to business planning and strategy, and representing EH&S through field activities, outreach events, internal conferences, award programs, and corporate committees.
ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities- Initiate, develop and manage projects, programs and activities that promote a zero harm culture, create an environmentally sustainable future, manage EH&S risk, and drive quality.
- Research, plan and create multimedia communications for EH&S and stakeholders company wide. The process also includes editing, copy-editing, and content review for a wide variety of formats that may include print, videos, PowerPoint presentations, posters, leaflets, e-mail, and more.
- Develop, manage and support special projects and programs, including those related to Key Performance Indicators and change management efforts, through individual contributions and coordination with key stakeholders to execute strategic and tactical deliverables.
- Collaborate with internal partners to acquire accurate, timely information required to compose a wide variety of deliverables including EH&S performance reports, event communications, announcements, executive statements, etc.
- Organize and participate in special EH&S events including outreach opportunities, internal conferences and expositions, award and recognition programs, and others.
- Participate in field visits, collaboration efforts, committees, meetings, internal and external benchmarking sessions throughout the company's service territory to research, support and develop communications efforts
- Demonstrates and promotes a strong safety culture that emphasizes psychological safety and fosters initiative, innovation, and open communication across the EH&S organization and with both union and management stakeholders from other company organizations.
- Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience or
- Associate's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Communications, Business, Marketing or related discipline and 3 years of experience.
- High proficiency in computer skills required with the ability to learn/develop new technologies as needed, required.
- Strong organizational, leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills, required.
- Must be flexible and have the ability to complete multiple assignments with changing priorities while still meetings deadlines, required.
- Must have a high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to, Word: Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access, etc.) is required
- Experience in Communications and Marketing, preferred.
- Supervisory experience, preferred.
- EH&S experience, preferred.
- Proficiency in SharePoint is preferred.
- Develops and delivers effective presentations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Quickly troubleshoots and resolves problems
- Driver's License Required
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds
- Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
